Instead of the usual season modes and car park backstage areas,The developers,Yukes,introduce new,original options into the game.But what was wrong with the old ones?They really took a gamble which didn't pay off.
For instance,the main story mode see's you in 5 different scenerios,beating up nameless security guards and builders.Where is the fun in that?The 'E' In WWE is ment to stand for entertainment,not egit pummeling!AAARRHHHH!Sorry.Wrestling angers up the blood.
As the 'Revenge' mode as It's called goes,you are a WWE superstar,kicked out of the buisness for no other reason but to have an explanation for making such a stupid mode in a wrestling game.You then join with Steth Mcmahon,and go on missions to sabotage Vince's upcoming Wrestlemania pay-per-view.
Oh,sorry,this game does have something to do with Wrestlemania.
But The makers of this mediocre game should be apologizing for this predictable,lazy yearly remake of last years edition.
The graphics are marginly touched up from last years edition,and all the same grappelers return from that awfull game,along with some new faces,including 'legend killer' and 3rd generation wrestler,weighing in at 217 pounds Raaaaaandy Orten,and everyone's favourite scowling bald man,Goldberg.
The create a wrestler mode is mainly the same as It always was.I'll let you be the judge whether thats a good,or bad thing,but It does include some Ideas they have 'borrowed' from Smackdown!like being able to change the length of anything from your freak's nose,to his knees.
Smackdown!1 on the Playstation had this option and Wrestlemania has only just caught up!On the whole though,this mode just includes slightly more zany cloths and gear,like saws and crocodile tails.Oh,did I say slightly zany.The match types are nothing you haven't seen before.Whereas the Smackdown series is ever evolving,with matches like the Elimination Chamber match,and the simply stunning Bra and Panties match,we are stuck with the golden oldies such as the Hell in the Cell and the T.L.C.Nothing bad,just nothing new or special.
It seems like Wrestlemania XIX developers Yukes are stuck in a rut,while Gamecube owning wrestling fans look on,salvating over Smackdown!and even Raw on the Xbox.If you like your wrestling games different,(different doesn't always mean good by the way)then splash out on this.If you are a hardcore fan of the sport, then you'll get this reguardless of what I say.If you want a truly great wrestling game though,buy a Playstation 2 and a copy of Smackdown 5 Here Comes the Pain!
