And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, Father, into your Hands I commit My Spirit. Luke 23:46
When Jesus said these words while He was dying on the cross, it was not a sudden decision on His part. He had been living a life committed to God all of His life. He lived his life dutifully, surrendered to the will of His Father, even unto death. Yet the death of Jesus was the seed that was planted, that gave us salvation and eternal life. If Jesus had not died, getting into heaven would have been a far more difficult task. But He, in that instant, surrendered the last breath of His life, and with that last breath, entered death. So that through His death, we might have hope of another life, one beyond the realm and scope of this world we live in now. When we as Christians commit ourselves to Jesus Christ, He gives us a hope that no one else can give. We make a commitment that throughout our life, is a journey on the way to eternity, where we have hope in Jesus Christ. Our friends can say gentle, kind, comforting words to us, but they cannot help us into heaven with those words. They cannot rescue us. They can only offer their love and support. It is only when we go to the source of that salvation that we find the "source" of eternal life. Jesus knew death, He knew the grave, and He even entered the portals of hell, to take the keys of death and the grave to conquer them once and for all. His life, the seed that was planted for our salvation, gives every Christian a glimpse not only of His love, but of a heavenly Home made just for us through this love. Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about those Christians who have died so you will not be sad, as others who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and that He rose again. So, because of Him, God will raise with Jesus those who have died. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 We are so used to the concepts of things we can prove or see, being our own realities. Yet, we cannot see the wind, but we know it exists. We cannot see the farthest corners of the universe, but we know it is there. We cannot understand the total miracle of birth, or the beating of a heart, what causes it, but we know it exists. Heaven is a realm we cannot see at this time, and barely can imagine. But it is promised by an almighty, powerful God, in whom there is no shadow of turning, there is only light. What He says, He is fully able to perform. Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Fathers house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1-3 Jesus made a provision for us, a way through the veil of death, and that very day, our spirit will reign with Him in heaven. Just as He told the thief on the cross, today you shall be with me in paradise. Someday Jesus will come back and join our shell of a dead body with our live spirit and we will have a resurrection body just as Jesus did when He appeared after He rose from the grave. A body that is visible, and yet can walk through doors. A body that is invincible, no illness, no pain, no sorrow, no disease. Heaven will be filled with unlimited joy. I believe it will be full of activity and full of choirs, and beautiful homes, and comfort beyond our wildest dreams. I believe we will never be lonely again. For throughout the word, Jesus says over and over, I will never leave you nor forsake you. And when our time comes to cross that River Jordan to enter the gates of heaven, we will be accompanied by angels. And we will hear such glorious singing, and praising, and we will feel truly well, truly happy, truly free for the first time ever. Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy Him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by the fear of death. Hebrews 2:14-15 For this our God is our God forever and ever, He will be our guide even to the end. Psalm 48:14 But my God will redeem my soul from the grave, he will surely take me to Himself. Psalm 49:15 Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 Our body may fail, but our spirit man never gets sick. Our spirit man does not ever die, He goes from this body to heaven at the time of our graduation day into glory. He will swallow up death forever. The sovereign Lord will wipe away all the tears from all faces. Isaiah 25:8 My friend, death has no sting, we need not fear it. It is a journey from here to eternity, where Jesus can meet us, and fulfill that hope He spoke of often on this earth. Eternal life, through the sacrifice of the life of Jesus Christ. Oh blessed hope, eternity with God!! Death is not the end, it is indeed the beginning. HOME WITH GOD, HOME AT LAST !!

"The Good Shepherd's Cottage" is an allegory in paint, an image of the Lord returning to call in His faithful. His house is an utterly comfortable and secure cottage, radiant with light. The air is luminous with sunset; the sound of His voice thrilling as He calls His sheep into a verdant meadow. Thomas Kinkade
