Fishing, nets and freshwater |
The verses to go with the first words are in John 21:4-6 - The time for daybreak had come and the disciples had been working all night - but hardly catching anything (in their own strength). Then the Lord came, but at first, they didn't recognise Him because it was still dark, (before the glorious day). He called to them to cast the net the other side, (went against human wisdom as the boats weren't designed to work that way), but as they obeyed Him and abandoned their own ways of thinking, the harvest of the fish came. |

But the nets were too heavy to carry ashore (the number of those reached was too large for the number of disciples). So all they could do was drag them towards Jesus, and as they did so the water around |

the fish became shallower, (in this the water represents the sin surrounding those caught for the gospel). |

The second word is about the nets, the verse for this one is John 13:34-35. We are the nets. We have been called by the Lord to catch many fish. But what is a net? A net is just a lot of strands of string. And all the time it remains as strands of string, it catches nothing. It is only as we become knotted together, as we are bound to one another in love, that we become the net. |

The strength of the net is not in the string; the strength of the net is in the knots where we are bound together. But a net that binds to everything just gets tangled, those knots have to be exactly where the net maker puts them, so that they are in just the right place to catch the fish. |

With the third word came an encouragement to study in the bible the Glory Cloud starting in Exodus 13:21, and an experience of the Lord that only happened once in the prophet Elijahs life in 1Kings 19:8-13. But maybe that is another thought! |

This word is based on the verses in Ezekiel 47:1-12. At the temple, the waters were only up to their feet but it got deeper as you got closer to the Dead Sea. |
The closer you get to reaching those dead in sin, the deeper the presence of God will need to be in your life. Are you comfortable with being feet deep in his presence or will you go until youre no longer controlling Gods presence when its up to your waist or knees? But its when it carries us and were no longer in control which is where we should be today. Come join in the journey to that place in our lives. |
