Treasure Chest
Who can forget Ruffa Gutierrez? Yes, she has  been  through  it all, from exalted 2nd Princess in Miss World to Scandal Queen at the  local  movie industry! Today, the 5'10" Filipina mestiza is hugging the avenues of in-ternational  stardom  and  steadily making a name  for  herself.  Ruffa should have been sent to Miss Universe right after her stint at Miss  World.  Who knows what could have happened?  Truly  one  of the fairest!
Click  on  Ruffa's  Pic to see more of her winning stint
at the 1993 Miss World Pageant in Sun City, S. Africa.

Aurora Sevilla
Miss Philippines World 1984
Aurora  Sevilla  is a dead ringer for Miss Uni-verse of 1996 from Venezuela, Alicia Macha-do! Give the gal some bleach for her hair and the magic of Osmel, and Alicia meets Aurora!
Click on Cara's  Pic and see her towering figure work the runway  at the Miss World 1994 finals in South Africa !!!
Cara Subijano first competed as the Philippines' official  representative at the Ford Agency's Su-permodel of the World competition before win-ning  the  Miss  Philippines  World title in 1994.
She  went  on  to  become a semi-finalist at the Miss  World  finals in Sun City. She could have placed  higher  if not for her now infamous blue nightmare evening gown 'from hell.'

Anjanette Abayari
Ex-Miss Philippines
Universe 1991
Anjanette was all set to compete in  the  1991 Miss Universe Pa-geant when tragedy struck! Un-able  to  justify  her citizenship,
she was dethroned and replaced by  Alou  Gonzalez.  Had Anja-nette competed in Miss Universe that year, Mexico's Lupita Jones would  have faced tougher com-petiton  from  the U.S raised gal.
Tisha Silang faced the same fate  in  1998 after failing to complete the six month resi-dency requirement. She was dethroned and  replaced by Jewel May Lobaton.

Gemma Cruz, Aurora Pijuan & Melanie Marquez : The Winning Streak
The Philippines has never seen anything like the 60's and the 70's, the glory days of the country in the international pageant  scene!  Miss International winners in 1964, 1970 and 1979. Gemma was the first ever to bag the title, Auro-ra Pijuan opened 1970 with her victory & Melanie closed the  decade  with the country's 3rd Ms. International title!

..THE ENIGMA OF THE... ..MISS WORLD CROWN.

Despite the fact that the Phi-lippines has sent a lot of qua-lified  gorgeous girls over the years to Miss World, still the title  remains  elusive  to  the Filipina. Politics, racism, foul play  and  partiality  towards former  British  colonies?
Maybe yes, maybe not! One
thing  is  sure  though,  the
country always sends the ve-ry  best  candidates possible. Case in point, Estrella Queru-bin  and  Lourdes Apostol, a class  by themselves, but still failed  to  attract  the  judges' attention! What future lies for the  Philippine  delegates  to Miss World? Bright or bleak?

Nina Ricci could have done  better  had she been sent to Venezue-la  for  training! Many regard her as superior to  Miriam Quiambao. Miriam  had the right training  and  became Miss  U First Runner-up. Just think of what Nina  might  have ac-complished  had  she
trained  in  Caracas!
Nina  Ricci  Alagao may
not have won the crown
in Cyprus 2000, but still
in the hearts of many, she
remains  the  most beauti-ful  Miss Philippines ever.
The  two  photographs to the  right  were  taken du-ring the Miss Universe
2000  Coronation Ball where  she was dressed to the hilt in a show stopping black  number!  As  you would  all recall, she did look every inch a winner when she entered the ball-room; prompting one invi-ted  guest to ask her whe-ther  she  was the winner!
Nina, Nina, good ol' Nina, should  be given a second chance  to  represent  the Philippines  in an interna-tional  competition.  Who knows? Success is sweet-er the second time around.
Nina Ricci Alagao was a beauty who  was  wasted  by  the Miss Philippines  Organizers!  A  fine
rose  so full of promise that failed to  bloom  because of neglect, bu-reaucracy  and  incompetence a- mong  the  ranks of Binibining Pi-lipinas!  Nina  had it all. Too bad!
