Foundations, Inc. is dedicated to providing transitional housing and substance abuse treatment for offenders. Our residential facilities offer an innovative graduated model of housing and support services designed specifically for offenders to bridge the gap between incarceration and valuable citizenry.
Foundations was founded on the principle of recovery and crime free behavior following a researched based continuum of stepping stones beginning with safe and stable housing.
What crystallized for the organization during its' formation was the realization that this link was often the weakest in the chain of success. As such, we needed to create housing specifically crafted to include rather than exclude clients - and this needed to happen before other critical factors of success could most effectively be implemented.
Our mission emerged as a pro-active response to the multifacted barriers presenting once an offender is released and/or convicted. The dream of a better life is darkened as only to be faced with the reality of societies indirect exclusion either intentful or innocent. The gateway is thus not a runway of opportunity but a road block plagued with difficulties. And it is often this barrier that precludes subsequent re-offending; as a mechanism of survival, a return to drug using behavior and drug seeking criminal activities.
