| Chapter Seventeen What is above is (the Dao), slightly below is people who understands its existence, further below is people who praises it, next below is people who fear it, the last and the most ignorant will despise it. It is not enough to just believe in it, but there are a lot who don't believe in it. For the Enlightened, he treasures his words, (Heng: Do not be involved in meaningless arguments) He does, he completes and he withdraws, all the people will say "I fulfill naturally". (Heng: Therefore any 'name' or fame is meaningless to a Daoist.) |
