| Weishun: My Nemesis But on the other hand, Weishun was different because he was very competitive in the game. He treated each game seriously and played to WIN... and with a few unique tricks of his own. Frankly speaking, when we first played, Weishun was better than me and I was defeated more often than him. But I could not take defeat for I knew that we were very close in skills. I believed that my skills would improve greatly as I played the game more. I also vowed that one day I'm going to improve my skills so much that I could beat him easily in every game we played... In fact, I was like him too... I had played with the intention to WIN every game. The Beginning of a Legacy And it soon naturally turned out that Weishun and me became the best of opponents in the Weiqi game. This marked the beginning for the Legacy of the 2 Weiqi Maniacs in AJ... ---------- Why are we known as the AJ Weiqi Maniacs? What did the two Weiqi Maniacs do in school? | Chapter 3: My Nemesis Jiawen and Weishun That was when I knew Jiawen and Weishun. Like me, they were also amateurs to the game. After playing the game for some time, we realized that our skills are on par with one another. While I was coached by Ah Ji, both of them knew how to play through attending various clinics conducted by the Weiqi Society. They were not Society members cos they had different main ECAs. On that day, they had borrowed the board from the club and were intending to play it in the LT. The following week, I realized that Jiawen was in my Higher Chinese class after we shifted to new classes. Since we were familiar with each other, soon we became good JC friends... and he remained to be a friend of mine years later in university. Although he was good, Jiawen treated Weiqi only as a good past time... Hence he was not the nemesis that I mentioned. |
