| Maniacs of Weiqi In fact, these two familiar figures in the forum seemed to have no life at all During recess time or after school, you will not fail to find them pitting their skills at every possible time. EVEN AFTER 10 PM AT NIGHT, when you could hear insects chirping and the school is as quiet as a graveyard, you would STILL see them there playing like theres no tomorrow. Sometimes I reached home at 12AM midnight just to play Weiqi... Scoldings from my parents were common at that time. And if you cant find these maniacs in the forum, then take a trip to the library. In an isolated corner where aplenty of Weiqi manuals were piling up on the shelves, you can find them there. They were reading and searching relentlessly for better methods of play so that they could beat each other in the next match. EVERYDAY. EVERYTIME. Such are the deeds of the 2 Weiqi Maniacs of AJ. In their eyes, there is only Weiqi and methods to beat each other in the game. ---- So much for Weiqi Maniacs... ok let's go back. | Legacy of the Two Weiqi Maniacs Weishun and I would always pit against each other if time permits. After playing relentlessly for many matches, my skills also improved tremendously. Soon we reached a stage where no one could say for sure who would win the next match. Both of us had different styles of play but were evenly matched in many ways. -------- A Legacy Our competitiveness soon became a legacy in school. Anyone passing through the forum (the forum is a place of rest and play at the center of the school) would surely see two familiar figures playing the Weiqi games on the table as usual. EVERYTIME. EVERYDAY. And this carried on for the whole year long during my JC2 year. Nothing could deter our daily matches -- we even skipped lectures just to play Weiqi. |
