| No More Games The depth of Weiqi is incredible. To tell the truth, I did not learn any special skills or unique tricks during the time when Ah Ji taught me. What I learnt were merely the most basic steps of how to play the game, as do all members of the Weiqi Society learn in their first year. After Ah Ji's coaching, I was of no different from other amateur players. In fact, my skills stopped developing cos I did not have any chance to play the game. Soon I put Weiqi aside and forgot about it for the time being... For some time, I did not come into touch with Weiqi... ----- My Nemesis Appears But all this changed when a Weiqi opponent appeared later to completely change my mundane life... HE who would soon become my deadliest Weiqi nemesis in JC... It seemed that fate does not want me to be an ordinary player after all... It all began on a fateful day in school as well. This time it happened in a lecture theatre (LT) where my Chinese Society always held their activities. At that time, a performance of the Society had ended and everybody was leaving to go home. I was among the last to go since I had some equipment to keep. After everyone had left, suddenly I noticed two guys who preferred to stay in the LT for some reason. I stayed to see what they were up to. To my surprise, one of them then reached into his bag... And surely enough, took out a familiar 19 x 19 board with two boxes of seeds. Yes, they were going to play the Weiqi game! And my heart was jumping with excitement cos I had not played the game for so long since Ah Ji left!
