Gadwell Lane plays a blend of pop and rock. They are based out of Tallahassee, FL but play most of their shows these days in Gainesville, FL. The band has come a long way since it first sprouted to life in January 2003. Singer-songwriter Ben Wilson and drummer-PR obsessive Luke Stephens have been through lineup changes, a broken neck, several better halves, death, 3 Gadwell Houses, and countless drunken nights. Through it all they have never broken up once. They have shared the stage with numerous National Acts, received a ton of press, picked up airplay independently from Gainesville to Baltimore, and done it all on their own accord. The band has never received one speck of financial support from anyone. They have gone on to release two independent albums, toured all over the country, slept on many floors, and are still doing it today. The current 3-piece lineup of Wilson, Stephens, and newcomer Spud Shellard is the strongest one yet.
Ben is a reasonable young lad. He was born in 1982 and grew up in Chattanooga, TN. He spent much of his adolescence rowing, playing all different types of instruments, and developing a love for film. He played in a high school band by the name of Tossing Fate and later played guitar in a band with Gadwell Lane drummer Luke Stephens by the name of The Last Lap. He likes to drink, he occasioanlly smokes cigarettes, and nothing drives him up the wall more that Georiga Bulldog football. Ben is a graduate of Florida State University.
Luke too often tells it like it is...from where he stands at least. He lives by the saying that confrontation clears the air. Born in 1982, Luke grew up in West Palm Beach, FL. He devoted almost all of his time and energy into tennis and basketball. His first musical love was Jerry Lee Lewis, later on AC/DC and Motley Crue. Luke lives and dies by his band and loves nothing more than everything that has to do with Gadwell Lane. He has played drums in several bands. He has a devoute love for Ohio State football and calls his parents every single day. Labeled as Tallahassee's biggest badboy, a deeper look reveals that Luke can also be somewhat humane. You can check out all the info you need on Luke's solo work at www.myspace.com/lukestephens.
Spud's real name is Daniel, but the only person that calls him that is his father. Born in 1984, Spud grew up in Orlando, FL. He has been a classic rock fan from day one. He has played in several bands since high school, including Tallahassee's The J Birds, which decided to call it quits just after Spud joined Gadwell Lane. Spud loves cheesey ABC reruns and writing absolutely hilarious tunes. You can check out all the info you need on Spud's solo work at www.myspace.com/spudsucks.
