In Ayanee there are families of celestial beings
who call themselves Muses. A few represent tangible things, like Nature or
Art while others represent virtues and various parts of the basic creature.
Their origins are shady at best, some claiming their blood is of that of Angels
and the Titan of the Earth Realm, Mnemosyne. Some claim they simply another
race, along with the Elvin, the angelic, the demonic, the ogre and giant.
Their beginnings were so far back, that the written word hadn’t yet been
perfected to even try recording their history. That, or some believe any
records had been destroyed in any number of ways. Regardless of what they
came from, what they are has long been established.
In Ayanee, there are two families that are related by common Grandparents.
Before the marriage of Jackson Osearionus, Muse of Curiosity, and Belle Foxfire,
Muse of Music, neither family knew the other existed. The Osearionus kept
low profiles on their powers and lived in more rural areas of the inland of
Ayanee, while the Foxfire Muses made sure to make their powers known while
living in the cities of the Coastland. By chance, Belle met Jackson while
he was visiting an old friend who owned an Inn, the same Inn Belle was working
in hopes to inspire. She had thought Jackson would be a possible subject for
her to inspire. Little did she know, Jackson was thinking the same of her.
Needless to say, both were pleasantly surprised to find out they belonged
to families of Muses. The two fell and love and from their union came the
largest known family of muses. There was a total of twelve siblings, six sisters
and six brothers each inheriting their abilities from their Aunts and Uncles.
There was a period of time when the Osearionus, The Foxfire and the family
of Jackson and Belle were known far and wide for their abilities. During
these years anyone in Ayanee who needed advice, help in thriving in their
trade, or simply needed a way to relax, came to the Muses. These prosperous
years of fame did not last when the two families began feuding. Of Jackson’s
parents, his Mother was the last still living, and Belle’s parents were long
gone. It was Jackson’s Mother that had kept Jackson’s brother George from
feuding with Belle’s overprotective brother Opus. He knew George, of Bravery,
was lusting heavily for the second youngest Foxfire, Ami of Heart. Ami who
represented the Heart tended to be fooled by men faking their love for her.
Opus had watched her heart break countless times, and when he caught George
trying to kiss her he nearly killed the boy. Luckily, Mother Osearionus was
still alive and was able to keep George in check. When she died, he quickly
pursued Ami again and after having his fun he left her with a broken heart.
Joseph found out quickly from a constantly crying Ami and nearly Killed George
again. This time, there was no one but Jackson willing to keep the family
together. Three of the Osearionus siblings, including Jackson tried to keep
the peace, but most of the Foxfires wanted nothing to do with them anymore.
Unfortunately, even a few of Jackson and Belle’s children fought, those with
abilities coming from the Osearionus side tending to side with Uncle George,
and those with Foxfire abilities siding with Uncle Joseph. The oldest of
the twelve, Annabella, sided with Uncle Joseph and when she married, she took
the name Foxfire rather than Osearionus. The seventh born, Miles, married
and kept the Osearionus name.
Annabella gave birth to the current Foxfire Muses: Ignatius, Elijah,
Demetra, Phobeus, Lyric and Moira. Mile’s wife Alison gave birth to the current
Osearionus Muses: Jackson, Zoey, Calvin and Gavin, Leonard, and Alice. While
there was definitely a separation of the original families, in the twelve
siblings it was at the most Miles and Annabella unwilling to speak to one
another. On occasions, prompted by the other siblings who had found peace,
the two families met for reunions.
Annabella died in child birth after her last child, Moira, was born.
Her husband Cedric hadn’t been home in a long time and even when he was he
and Annabella had fought greatly. He soon died when Elijah, their second
born, was only 16.
Miles and his wife Alison were both killed in a tragic fire of a local
tavern, and this left Jackson Osearionus the 2nd in charge of their family.
She completely reconciled any harm done in the past and has since tried to
keep each family close. Years and years after the prosperous age of the twelve,
Muses are no longer as well known but they do make the rounds daily to inspire
and are again starting to become more well known. .
