how

Muses are required to inspire daily, for they live off the inspiration they give to others. If they do not inspire for three days they find the first symptoms of becoming ill is a headache. The headache becomes chills or hot flashes, and finally fever which renders them quite useless and could kill them if it goes on long enough. In order to keep this from happening, a Muse will set off each day to inspire at least once...this is why they linger about taverns, Inns and other places were fellowship occurs in a copious amount.

To inspire is to make a connection with the one receiving the inspiration. This means touching in some fashion by a Muse, or a special  connection done with what the Muse can provide.

This means Muse of Nature can use certain nectars to achieve the same affect as touching to inspire, and Muse of Music can use the music they are gifted with. Otherwise the only way to inspire is by levels of touch.

Level one:
A Muse's hand in contact with the subject's hand will be the connection, the inspiration is an invisible flow of energy accepted by the subject that will have certain effects. The first effect is heightened senses for an hour, the second a relaxed mind for the same hour allowing thought to flow easier.

Level two:
A Muse's lips in contact with the subject's hand or forehead, or cheek [Not lips!]. The same energy flows in and will cause two hours of heightened senses and two hours of a relaxed mind. It also opens the doors to thoughts that normally a brain can't tap into by themselves, as only 10% of a mortal's brain can be accessed on a normal daily basis. This is were new ideas that are completely natural [you never knew you had it in you!] can flow through a relaxed mind.

Level three:
Usually saved for a Muse's mate only, a kiss on the lips is a level two that lasts for five hours. It's rare for this to be used unless the Muse is desperate, or a mate has been found for said Muse.
