Japan's greatest monster, Godzilla, departed his homeland and headed for Hollywood, CA to celebrate his 50th birthday!  A trio of events were held November 28 & 29, 2004, to mark the occasion.

The 73rd Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade took place along Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards on the chilly evening of Sunday, November 28.  The parade started around 5:00 pm, and lasted over two hours.  Along with a plethora of celebrities, floats, and marching bands, the parade included a Godzilla float.  According to official stats, the float measured 28 feet long x 12 feet wide x 14 feet tall.  It depicted Godzilla looming over a cityscape and venting smoke from his mouth.  With his glowing eyes and mouth, the big G was quite a sight - and sound!  Accompanying the float was Akira Ifukube's signature Godzilla theme, and Godzilla's trademark roar.  (Click on any of the images below to see a larger version.)

Godzilla makes his way down Hollywood Boulevard.
Notice the cameraman in the above-left picture.  Japanese press were a common sight both days of the celebration, as Godzilla was trailed by paparazzi from his homeland everywhere he went in Hollywood!  Perhaps some of this footage might show up on the eventual region 2 DVD release of Final Wars?
The float included logos for the 50th anniversary and Godzilla Final Wars.
