Team California
Import Racing has been sweeping across America at an alarming rate. From the West Coast to the East Coast more and more people gather up whenever an Import Race is happening at a local, or not, track.
At the last Import Race event held here in Atco Raceway in New Jersey, we got the chance to see some of the fastest cars from California. Unfortunately that's all we actually did. See the cars, you know...look, stare, browse, but not RACING. Let me tell you why they were not racing.
Here goes the story, the night before was raining quite a bit and the morning of the race was still pretty much wet and with no signs of cooperation from Mother Nature, you would have thought that the race would be cancelled. NOT! I called Atco Raceway to verify if there would be a race. Sure enough they said yes. I was pretty excited because on this day I will see some 10 second Honda's that I read about in the magazines and the most important of all, Tony Fuch's Acura Integra. So I got dressed, grabbed my camera and headed to the track. As I left for the track the weather was dark and dreary. Even worse was the drive up; there was an intermittent drizzle and rain showers. As my chances to see Team California is fading, I did not stop driving. Although actual thoughts of turning back kept nagging me, I drove along until I got to the track. Even with these kinds of conditions, there were still a lot of cars that showed up for the race.
As hard as the track crew worked to dry up the tracks, there were still no signs that the track would dry up in time to even have a race. Hundreds of crowds sat by the bleachers, patiently waiting for the show to go on. When the track officials gave the OK signal for the race to start, people cheered as the first race began. I saw a couple of cars race, and all I saw was tires spinning due to lack of traction. After the first six or eight cars, the race was stopped. The crew started drying the track once more. While the track is being dried, I walked over to the staging area where Team California was all ready to put on a good show. I took these pictures while everybody was waiting for the officials to open the track again.
Here are the photos I took of Team California

Here are some pictures of Tony Fuch's Acura Integra

And here is a DPR prepped ALL MOTOR Honda Civic
running 12 seconds down the quarter mile.
