______________________________________________________ Hall of Fame There have been many writers that have taken on the task of penning X-Men storyarcs over the years. There have been good ones, there have been bad ones and there have been unmemorable ones. Below (listed alphabetically) is a list of writers that, we think, have done a good job, particularly in their handling of everybody's favourite walking, talking popsicle. Joe CaseyUncanny X-Men #368, #394 - #409 X-Men #73, #88 Casey turned Angel into a kickass character like he has never been outside of his Archangel days. From the big bad gun to the use of his millionaire status and business acumen, Casey gave us the most interesting Warren we have ever seen. THE man introduced a new mutant that had truly original powers (Stacy) and, despite her controversial origin, showed potential to develop into an interesting and strong character. Oh, yeah. Casey had a good understanding of bobby's character and motivation too, and he knew how to use the Icemans powers effectively... Although not as well as Nicieza Scott Lobdell
Fabien Nicieza
Louise Simonson
______________________________________________________ Hall of Shame If we're gonna mention the good, we've gotta mention the utterly bad and ugly as well... Its only fair after all, not to mention fun. So heres our "rogues gallery" of the most terrible of the terrible writers to ever put pen to paper in the name of the X-men. Chuck AustenUncanny X-Men #410 - current X-Men #73, #88 We would count the ways in which Chucky's writing sucks, except that there isn't a single free web-hosting service in all of cyberspace that provides enough memory space for that. Here is a summary of the major points instead: The man ruins almost every character he touches, particularly the female ones and Bobby. Austen has no understanding of Bobby's motivations and personality. The Hack completely ignores continuity and therefore ends up rehashing storylines that have been explored and concluded by previous writers ______________________________________________________ |
