This is a tombstone of a "witch" in a Waynedale cemetary in our hometown of Fort Wayne. Caption: "Wife Helen V. Fishman June 15, 1938 April 8, 1960 October 10, 1965 A little while, a moment of rest upon the wind, and another woman shall bear me. HILYAILYV" Their are two stories behind the "Waynedale Witch" one story is that she isn't a witch at all but just a regular woman. People think that the three dates mean something different than they supposedly really mean. People think that the three dates are a birth date, a death date, and then another birth date, which would mean something along the lines of a ressurection. The non-believers say that the first date is a birth date, the second a wedding anniversary date, and the thirt a death date. Helen was a mother and a wife who was shot to death at the young age of 27 and was left in the middle of a corn field to be found the next day. Believers say that the first person to figure out what the inscription "HILYAILYV" means will be the person to 'bear' her. In this case we think 'bear' means childbirth. That line of thinking coincides with the qoute just above the letters, "A little while, a moment of rest upon the wind, and another woman shall bear me". Also it is said that when there is a full moon a green mist will appear around the stone. Superstition says that if a person takes a picture of the stone they will be in great danger. Hopefully that's not true because Kodee's mom took the picture on this site. Someone posted this at Ancestry.com "The tombsotne also has a rose at times, sometimes red, sometimes just a carving.... sometimes not there at all, and there is a penny and a dime on the top that nobody touches...and burn marks, one on the top of the tombstone, and one on the front right, and back left." posted by Lora B-----.
