******* item 1 WHY THE DEBATE IN MAINLINE CHURCHES ON HOMOSEXUALITY WHEN IT IS CLEARLY FORBIDDEN IN THE SCRIPTURES?
******* By Ralph Barnim
******* From: "Robert A Jason"
******* Date: Sat, 30 Oct 2004
******* Why the Debate?
******* Just a comment on the article appearing in the St. Catharines Standard on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 entitled "Anglican blessings of gay unions to go on".
******* If the Christian Church considers the Bible to be the word of God ("profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for instruction in righteousness"- II Timothy 3: 16,17), and,
******* If the Bible states that homosexuality is a sin ("Thou shalt not lie with mankind , as with womankind: it is an abomination[sin]"- Leviticus 18:22), and,
******* If God considers sin so serious that He sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place to pay sin's penalty in order to reconcile mankind to Himself, then,
******* Why is the Anglican church (or any other church, for that matter) petitioning God to bless (show divine favour) upon same sex unions whose participants practise one of the very sins that Christ died to redeem us from?
Please, Can anyone tell me where is the basis for debate?
******* Sincerely, Ralph Barnim, St. Catharines, Ontario

******* item 2 GOOD NEWS: PROMINENT CANADIAN PRO-LIFE PRO-FAMILY CHAMPION (BILL WHATCOTT) ACQUITTED
******* by Charlene Tebbutt/Daily Herald, Wednesday, October 27, 2004
******* From: "Robert A Jason"
******* Date: Sat, 30 Oct 2004
******* Anti-abortionist's (THAT IS PRO-LIFE TO THE REST OF US, FRIENDS - RJ) conviction is overturned
******* Bill Whatcott wants his signs back now that a criminal conviction against the controversial anti-abortion activist has been overturned.
Whatcott hopes to come to Prince Albert soon to collect several large signs he lost when he was arrested during an anti-abortion picket in the city in July 2002.
******* Whatcott, who was later convicted of obstructing a peace officer in relation to the incident, had the conviction overturned last week in Prince Albert Court of Queen's Bench.
******* In his ruling, Justice J. Kraus said Whatcott's right to free _expression was violated when he was arrested. Whatcott was arrested after refusing to stop showing the signs, some of which displayed photographs of an aborted third-trimester fetus.
******* Whatcott, executive director of the Christian Truth Activists organization, was one of several people picketing at the intersection of Second Avenue West and 15th Street during rush hour when police arrived.
******* Although other members of the group switched to less offensive signs at the police's request, Whatcott did not. "The police action was arbitrary, discriminatory and not clearly authorized by law such as can be demonstrated in a free and democratic society," Kraus said in his six-page decision.
******* "In my view, the preponderance of evidence shows that the police action was intended to, and did, directly restrict the content of the appellant's _expression."
******* Whatcott said the appeal decision is a win for his cause. He said the decision proves he has the right to peacefully display the "gruesome" anti-abortion photos.
******* "It's not something we were just doing to get a reaction, we were just trying to raise awareness," Whatcott said Tuesday from Alberta.
******* "I never did obstruct. I told the guy (police officer) it wasn't right to shut down our protest."
******* With the conviction overturned, Whatcott said he now wants to make an example of Prince Albert City Police.
******* Whatcott said he will sue the City Police for damages in relation to his arrest.
******* "Not that I have anything against Prince Albert police personally ... (but) you're the only town in all of Saskatchewan where I've been arrested three times," Whatcott said.
******* "We certainly want to ensure that the police are much more careful in the future if we come to Prince Albert ... That if we're not breaking any obvious law, that they allow us to protest."
******* City Police spokesman Al Fraser declined to comment Tuesday on Whatcott's lawsuit against the department.
******* During Whatcott's trial on the obstruction charge in July 2003, the Crown prosecutor argued City Police were justified in arresting Whatcott when he refused to stop showing the graphic signs to passing motorists. The Crown said the signs were a distraction for drivers.
******* A similar conviction against Whatcott was overturned in October 2002, when an appeal judge ruled Whatcott's rights to free _expression were also violated.
******* That incident related to a 2001 incident in Regina in which Whatcott was charged after distributing anti-abortion pamphlets in a University of Regina parking lot. (See the third link below for more articles on Bill Whatcott.)

******* item 3 NEW BRUNSWICK ABORTION FOE CHARGED WITH REFUSING TO PAY TAXES PLANS CHARTER CHALLENGE by Chris Morris
******* from the Canadian Press
******* date 05-01-28
******* FREDERICTON (CP) - A New Brunswick man who hasn't paid income tax in seven years says he is preparing to take on Canada Revenue in his fight to stop publicly funded abortions.
******* David Little of Fredericton, a pro-life activist, said Friday he has been summoned to appear in court next week to face three counts of failing to file personal income tax returns.
******* But Little said he's going to try turning the tables on the revenue agency by launching a legal challenge under Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
******* "Jesus said, 'Render to Ceasar the things that are Ceasar's and to God the things that are God's'," said Little, a devout Roman Catholic.
******* "Human life doesn't belong to Ceasar or Paul Martin or anyone else. It belongs to God. They can't command us to give them money when we know they use a portion of it to kill babies."
******* Little said his legal challenge will be unique.
******* He said he plans to take action under the Charter, using freedom of religion and conscience clauses to make his arguments.
******* He said he'd like the case ultimately to be settled by the Supreme Court of Canada.
******* "This is an exciting opportunity," Little said. "I'm looking forward to waging this battle."
******* However, David Perry of the Canadian Tax Foundation, a national non-profit tax research organization, said challenges similar to the one being planned by Little have never succeeded in Canada.
******* Other people have refused to pay taxes for a wide range of reasons, Perry said, including personal opposition to military spending.
******* "There's no link between his (Little's) taxes and any particular function," Perry said.
******* "There's no provision in tax legislation for where the money is going with the exception of Employment Insurance and Canada Pension Plan levies and the airport tax . . . It is simply rendering to Ceasar what is due to Ceasar. That's what the tax system is about. It doesn't look at the spending side."
******* Perry said no one taxpayer is responsible for any particular function in government.
******* He said the only way Little can avoid paying taxes is to not have any money.
******* "The only thing you can do is give away your money, give up your job and take a vow of poverty in a religious institution, and then you won't have to pay tax," he said.
******* Little, a 59-year-old father of four, said he is facing large fines and possible jail time for refusing to file income tax returns.
******* But he said he will not pay.
******* "I will not pay any fines until this law is reversed and citizens' money is no longer used to fund what many of us believe is plain, pure murder," he said.

******* item 4 GORDON WATSON FOUND GUILTY ON 10 COUNTS OF FAILING TO FILE INCOME TAX RETURNS
******* Date: Mon, 12 Jul 2004
******* [email protected] wrote:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Today Judge Gove delivered his Reasons for judgment : the Attorney General of Canada did prove its case against me. Thus I am now convicted on ten counts of failing to submit income tax returns.
******* Not to worry, though, because that makes it proceed to the next stage, which is my Constitutional Challenge to sections of several different Acts. That part will be done in writing, with a day of argument set for November 1st 2004. If I prevail, the judge can stay the proceedings, effectively "letting me off". But even if he does, that sure wouldn't be the end of it ... only the beginning of the appeal process.
******* This is one is turning into a monster, but I guess it's my duty, so I'll do it. Fortunately I got word from Elections BC last week that it is perfectly legal for me to take in donations to my political party, then use them to fund public interest litigation.
******* Quite properly in law, Judge Gove based his decision on my statement on the witness stand that 'about 1988, after I found out that tax money was being used to kill children by abortion, I made the decision not to co-operate with the government'. I was glad to be reminded that I didn't get into this just to squabble about taxation, although I've since learned how important that is. The power to tax is the power to govern. One of the main reasons Canada and B. C. are so badly governed is because of the iniquitous income tax.
******* First and last, my concern was always about unborn persons being murdered by artificial abortion. So I'm overjoyed to realize that I will get my chance to air-out the fact that the God damned serial child killers called "abortionists" are payed with money extorted from an ignorant / insensitive nation. Then maybe people will re-think whether they like paying for someone else's 'elective surgery'
******* As I told Bryant Mackey - who represents the Attorney General of B. C. in this case - "now you're going to have to defend a government which is knowingly perpetrating genocide." The definition of that word being 'deliberate killing of a class of persons'. The good thing is that Mr. Mackey is one of their brightest and best, so it's going to be very educational all 'round. I reminded him that at the Nuremberg trial of the major war criminals, the underlying theme of Prosecutor Robert Jackson's indictment was that Germany had been taken over by a criminal gang who had conspired to commit the atrocities, and to make illegal war.
******* It will be fascinating to see what the AG of B. C. and the AG of Canada say back when , among other things, I put in the 1946 case of the Military Tribunal of the International Joint Commission (the Occupiers of Germany) found the Concentration Kamp Kommnader guilty for having certain women prisoners aborted.
******* In that matter, the tribunal found as a matter of fact that the children who had been executed by abortion were victims of crimes against humanity.
******* Point being ; in that unborn babies are such persons as have a right to have their interests represented in Her Majesty's Courts in British Columbia, and also the Federal Court of Canada, yet they are being killed all the day long with money derived from federal provincial transfer payments taxes, which arrangement is predicated upon the provincial and federal Income TAx Acts, then those governments are engaged in genocide.
******* According to the principle articulated at Nuremberg, with which Canada agrees in principle, a citizen cannot be compelled to co-operate with a criminal act carried out by government. Better known as the 'conscientious objector' position.
******* And the other good thing in His Honour's judgment is that I was recognized as a "politician". So the "propaganda of the deed" ... tax resistance as a political statement ... looms large. I urge all-concerned to get the facts about how unspeakably corrupt the tax racket is, then think for yourself. Define a particular issue you consider immoral. Yesterday you may not have been able to spell 'conscientious objector', but when you reach your own tipping point of outrage against tyranny, all of a sudden, you are one.
******* I hope the tax revolt has started. Praise God !

******* item 5 WHAT I LEARNED AT THE FOLK FESTIVAL - By Royal Hamel
******* From: Robert A Jason
******* Sent: Wednesday, September 07, 2005
******* “For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for a city that is to come.? Heb. 13:14
******* Same-sex “marriage? is now legal in Canada. People who hold to conservative values just lost another major battle after a two-year struggle. Moreover, it was only two years ago, as well, that the government passed legislation giving permission to experiment on the tiniest of humans in the embryonic stem cell law. And, almost at the same time the homosexual lobby and their media allies pushed through Bill C-250, a bill that makes it dangerous to publicly criticize homosexual practice.
******* With one hammer blow after another traditional values have been badly bludgeoned. Shell shocked, disbelieving and grieving, many Canadians cannot understand how our society can be so profoundly morally adrift. Some are so disheartened that they are in danger of saying, “ It’s no use, nothing we say or do makes any difference, and there’s no point in fighting any longer.?
******* Augustine was one of the early heroes in the Church who would have understood this despair. In his time the magnificent city of Rome was attacked, looted and largely destroyed by the Visigoths in 410 A.D. Bereaved, despairing and confused many appealed to Augustine asking him how such a tragedy could have happened. As part of his response he wrote his classic tome, The City of God. He put steel in the hearts of his readers by reminding them that there is a “city of man? and a “city of God.? The city of God was a metaphor for eternal values and truth that can never be shaken because its foundations are laid on God. Augustine told his readers that they should focus on this city.
******* How does one keep on “keeping on?? In the face of the Canadian slide into barbarism, how does one keep despair at bay? Regardless of what might happen, regardless of apparent defeats and losses, believers will renew their hope, finding encouragement in the fact that we wait in expectant hope for a city whose maker and builder is God. And regardless of temporary defeats that city shall never, no never, be shaken.
******* It’s become a tradition in our family to visit the annual Millrace Folk Festival, held in Cambridge, Ontario over the last weekend in July. This year the weather was perfect. The setting, an amphitheatre on the riverbank, felt magical. The crowd was enthusiastic, and the program of Flamenco guitar with dancing could not have been more dramatic. But, as the late afternoon sun was sinking beyond the river it claimed a target. Then the target claimed me.
******* For from above the stage, and far off in the distance a glint of light caught my eye. Following it to the source I saw that it came from a metal cross atop a church steeple on the other side of the city. Over the next ten minutes the glint grew to a steady light and then a white-hot glow that captivated my eyes. And in that hallowed moment I quite forgot the music, the ambiance and the scarlet clad dancers. For God held my gaze with the fiery cross. With silent, burning image he reminded me that the Church is the light of the world. The message was not that the Church is supposed to be the light of the world, but, rather that the Church is the light of the world. The message was without, “ifs?, “ands?, or “buts?. Oh to be sure, I knew that already. But I obviously needed reminding. And, what a deal of good it did my soul. For the message was a renewal of my calling.
******* Fact is the Church has received everything it needs to light the world. Pastors, Bishops, Elders, Deacons, and lay people, alike lack nothing to bring light to the darkness. We have truth and knowledge to speak to those who would trash marriage, to those who kill and call it choice, to those who would make prostitution legitimate employment, to those who call for mercy-killing, and assisted suicide.
******* We must never forget that we don’t walk away from a calling. For, yes, discouragement, despair, losses and crosses may tempt us to become AWOL light bearers.
******* So I invite you to keep holding up your light with me. And, all the more as darkness deepens. Let us never be ashamed of the light given to us. let us never let politically correct people put a basket over it. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…till Jesus comes.

******* item 6 VANCOUVER PRO-LIFER ROSE MAWHORTER VIOLENTLY ATTACKED
******* From: "J.Hof"
******* Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006
******* On Friday afternoon April 7, 2006 a pro-life demonstrator was viciously assaulted by an unknown assailant. Rose Mawhorter was protesting with graphic images across the street from Vancouver's notorious abortion clinic, Everywomans Health Center at the corner of Broadway St. and Commercial Drive when she was attacked from behind and thrown violently to the ground.
******* Her assailant ripped Rose's signs from her neck and began running down the street. She threw the signs into the traffic and turned back to the scene of chaos she had left behind and began cursing and swearing at the people who were coming to assist Rose. The attacker continued this screaming and yelling until she was out of earshot of the group and then bolted across the road, running as fast as she could making a clean get away.
******* The perpetrator did not know the entire incident was captured on video tape and this has now been turned over to the Vancouver Police department who said they would have no trouble identifying the suspect.
******* Within minutes of the assault, four police cars arrived and spent considerable resources combing nearby streets in an attempt to locate the suspect. Statements were taken from several witnesses and the video tape and Rose's signs were turned over as evidence.
******* Rose suffered a small laceration on her wrist as well as bruising on her elbow and hip. She was asked by police if she needed an ambulance but said it was not necessary. Asked later how she was feeling, she said she was still a little shook up.
******* Rose wanted to clarify that the incident will not deter her from maintaining her weekly vigil at the abortion location. In fact she said incidents like this are to be expected when one brings a message to society that it does not want to hear. She was not surprised that people who condone killing the smallest of human beings would resort to attacking defenceless, peaceful demonstrators.
******* This traumatic incident also speaks to the need for the continued presence outside abortion facilities and points to the sacrifices some dedicated pro-lifers are making to ensure the voice of the unborn children is not silenced. She will return to her post again on Friday and invites anyone who would like to discuss this issue to come speak with her. "Violence can never be considered an option" Rose stated. "Social justice movements almost inevitably face violent resistance when they successfully challenge accepted injustice. This will be no different for the pro-life movement when we begin to effectively confront our society's sin."

******* item 7 CANADIAN POLICE PAY A VISIT TO CHRISTIAN COMMENTATOR (ROBERT A. JASON), BY LEE DUIGON
******* From: Robert A. Jason
******* Sent: Thursday, October 20, 2005
******* The Knock on the Door
******* By Lee Duigon (Dear Friends: Lee Duigon interviewed me on the phone the other day, and I'm pleased that my story is now being told far & wide. Last year, Janet Folger, the Christian radio talk show host, interviewed me by phone on her show and she may have put my story into her latest book, The Criminalization of Christianity - RJ)
******* Canadian police pay a visit to Christian commentator.
******* As a writer, I can't imagine anything more chilling than for the police to come to my door and tell me I'd better stop writing about certain issues. As an American, I can't imagine a worse insult to my First Amendment rights.
******* But Robert Jason is a Canadian citizen, and he doesn't have to imagine a thing like that, because it really happened—to him.
******* Jason, 70, a retired high school teacher who supports himself by caring for mentally handicapped persons in his home, writes columns and collects news items in support of Christian, pro-family issues, such as the defense of marriage. He sends them daily to like-minded persons on his e-mail list.
******* On New Year's Day 2004, Jason and his wife received a visit from two plainclothes policemen.
******* “They were there because someone showed a homosexual activist one of my e-mails, and the activist complained to the police,? Jason said. "He told them he felt personally threatened by my e-mails. He convinced the police that I was threatening his life."
******* At the time, Canada's current "hate speech" law had not yet been enacted. That didn't stop the police from getting involved.
******* “The officers were quiet and friendly,? Jason said, “but just having them there was very intimidating to me and my wife. All the neighbors were watching, and we were terrified.?
******* The officers didn't tell him to stop writing, he said, but they “implied? that he should.
******* “I replied, how could I threaten this person? I'm only defending my values. And the e-mail wasn't sent to him.?
******* Jason said incidents like this will happen in the United States if “hate crime? legislation, followed by “hate speech? legislation, becomes federal law.
******* “If you give homosexuals special rights, they're just going to use them to threaten your rights,? he said. “Canada doesn't have a First Amendment, and it’s going to get worse here before it gets better. We're just hoping that someday there’ll be a backlash among people with common sense.?
******* In spite of his warning from the police, Robert Jason is still writing his columns and sending them to fellow Christians on his e-mail list.
******* He does not know when the police will come again.
******* Lee Duigon is a Christian free-lance writer whose work periodically appears on www.cwfa.org and frequently appears at www.chalcedon.org.

******* item 8 HYPOCRISY AND RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION IN FIRING OF CATHOLIC POLICEMAN (by Mark Bonokoski, Toronto Sun, November 20, 2005)
******* From: Robert A. Jason
******* Sadly, we can now add Mr. Packer's name to the growing list of those
Canadians such as Linda Gibbons, Scott Brockie, Chris Kempling, Stephen
Boissoin, Dianne Haskett, Hugh Owen, and Bill Whatcott, who have been
persecuted for their pro-faith pro-life pro-family beliefs. - Robert Jason
******* Eighteen years ago, a cop -- a Roman Catholic father of 5 -- refused to
guard an abortion clinic. He was fired for insubordination.
******* From his home in Niagara Falls, former Toronto cop David Packer reads the Toronto papers, watches the news and, in his own mind's eye, sees nothing
but a double standard.
******* He watched Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair, for example, and heard his
strongly-worded vow that hard discipline will one day be dispensed on the
officers who ignored his direct order not to wear their uniforms during
their recent work-to-rule protest march on City Hall.
******* He watched, and he made his prediction.
******* "Not much will happen to them," he guessed, even though he categorized the actions of those officers as a "brazen, in-your-face, direct refusal" to
obey a lawful order -- not just an order from a sergeant, or even an
inspector, but a order from the highest ranking officer on the force. "They'll get a slap on the wrist, if that," he said.
******* And, in a way, Packer's prediction was accurate. As it came down earlier
last week, some 80 officers will be docked 24 hours pay for disobeying Chief
Blair's order.
******* "Now compare that with what happened to me," said Packer.
******* It was in 1987 that David Packer, then a 35-year-old father of five, and a 10-year veteran of the Toronto force, refused the order that cost him his
job -- an order from a superior at 14 Division to stand on point duty
outside a Morgentaler abortion clinic that had set up shop on Harbord St. (I remember this event well - RJ)
******* "I did this on the grounds of conscience," he said. "I respectfully asked my supervisor, in private, to give me a different detail. Only when he ignored my request did I, again respectfully, refuse his order."
******* When I spoke to Packer way back then, he had just been charged with
insubordination under the Police Act.
******* He described his marriage to wife, Anne, as "13 glorious years." She was
then, as now, a Roman Catholic. She was also a member of both Right to Life
and Campaign Life, and was an active picket outside the Morgentaler clinic.
He described himself as but a "minor foot soldier" in the anti-abortion
cause.
******* "I've sat outside that place in the middle of the night when it's closed and it's just a gloomy kind of building," he told me during a call from a pay
phone. "And it's just the idea that there is just a row of bricks separating
me from people who are killing babies every day.
******* "I figured being that close, and obviously associated with the place because I was the guard on the front door, that I was getting blood on my hands -- that I was, in a way, guilty by association.
******* "Finally the time had come to stand and be counted," he said, explaining
that it was his own conscience that led him to disobey the order, a
conscience he described as "God speaking in your ear, telling you what is
right and wrong."
******* That whisper in the ear led to Packer being convicted of insubordination
under the Ontario Police Act and ordered to either resign within seven days
or be fired.
******* This was the same cop who, three years earlier, had been lauded as a hero -- for going back into a burning building three times and, after crawling on his hands and knees, finally finding a crib and saving a 3-month-old baby.
At Packer's insubordination trial, and at two subsequent appeals, his lawyer
argued that, under the Ontario Human Rights Act, a personal belief can
constitute the "lawful excuse" needed to refuse a order.
******* That premise, however, was rejected by the Ontario Police Commission, but it later reversed a previous ruling that Packer be fired -- but slapped him
down to a fourth-class constable, the lowest rank on the force outside a
cadet, and effectively took $15,000 out of his $46,000 annual wage.
******* Packer quit the force the next day.
******* To him, the writing on the wall was clear.
"My life would have been hell," he said. "They would have made sure every
bad detail there was would come my way. "I resigned because my career was in ruins. I was busted back to what I was on the first day on the job."
Today, Packer described his life as being in a "downward financial spiral."
He has not had a job in years, making his wife, a nurse, the family's sole
bread winner.
******* "Potential employers don't want to hear your story," he said.
"They get enough job applications that they don't have to listen to you. And
they don't."
******* The deputy police chief at the time of Packer's disciplinary hearings was future police chief Bill McCormack, the force's first-ever Roman Catholic
chief. As he testified before the tribunal, it was his contention that Packer
should have followed orders because "religious denomination doesn't enter
into this at all -- it's all a matter of police discipline."
******* Packer noted a certain irony here, looking forward.
******* In 1992, under Bill McCormack's watch as chief, and two years after Packer's resignation, the police union stepped up a Blue Ribbon Campaign job action similar to what occurred earlier this year -- with some 3,000 officers
eventually being charged with insubordination.
******* Deal with union
******* In his book, Without Fear or Favour, McCormack admits that, after winning a court injunction to stop the job action, he orchestrated a deal with the union to quickly clear all those insubordination charges -- a deal which saw
the docking of eight hours of "unclaimed time served."
*******In other words, no real money was lost, and there were no demotions or
firings.
******* In his book, McCormack also admits to disobeying a direct order of his
own -- and facing possible disciplinary action -- when future police chief
Jack Ackroyd ordered him to put a tail on a senior officer he wrongly
believed was slacking off.
******* "No, sir, I will not do that, "McCormack quotes himself as saying, indicating to Ackroyd that the cop he was being ordered to spy upon was a friend.
******* "You do it or you'll wish you had," Ackroyd replies.
******* McCormack sticks to his guns, and Ackroyd eventually relents -- no harm, no foul.

******* Abortion supporters' intolerance said to be "appalling" Source URL: http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/mar/06032703.html
******* From: LifeSiteNews.com via Robert A. Jason
******* LONDON, March 27, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - One year after the University of Western Ontario (UWO) awarded infamous abortionist Henry Morgentaler an honorary degree, the abortion debate has re-ignited.
******* On March 21, Stephanie Gray, Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform, spoke against abortion at King's College at UWO. Police and security were brought to the scene to handle expected disruption from abortion advocates. 130 people attended the talk, about half were vehemently against Gray. Several spoke out of turn throughout the presentation. One student was so disruptive security told him to leave. He refused but remained silent for the remainder of the presentation.
******* Gray was protected that evening by an undercover police officer. Before the presentation started, she was given a security briefing which included having a uniformed police officer in the next room, ready to whisk her to a police car if violence broke out.
******* That evacuation plan was required since many of the abortion supporters were unruly. "Their intolerance was appalling," said Gray. "In my four years of giving presentations and debates at university campuses across North America I have never encountered such a rude and disruptive audience. Abortion supporters 'talk' tolerance but these ones sure don't 'walk' it."
******* Throughout the presentation, random audience members stood up and faced their backs to Gray. Others placed pieces of tape on their mouths with "choice" written on them.
******* The crowd became greatly agitated when Gray spoke about personhood. She explained that denying the unborn their status as persons was analogous to past atrocities when societies denied for example Jews their personhood. She pointed out that the reason abortion supporters despise the comparison was their denial of the value of the unborn. "And that is exactly the issue," said Gray, "Are the unborn human beings like born people or aren't they?"
******* A female student was critical of Gray's reliance on science to prove the unborn are human saying, "Science has been wrong before." When Gray asked the young woman for an alternative scientific explanation she did not offer one. ******* Gray explained that when human sperm and egg unite, a whole, living, human being comes into existence, one that has the genetic material needed to inform and organize its growth. She referred to Moore and Persaud's embryology textbook, "Before We Are Born," used by medical students at the University of British Columbia, which says, "Human development begins at fertilization."
******* A pro-abortion medical researcher also claimed the science cited by Gray was wrong. He said that the unborn become independent beings at birth. Gray's responded that the issue was not when someone becomes independent, but instead when one becomes human. She said that after fertilization the unborn get bigger, become more developed, change their environment, and become increasingly independent-changes that people go through post-birth as well-but that their human nature remains consistent.
******* One young woman said that preventing abortion would force women to have children. That assumes, however, countered Gray, that a pregnant woman doesn't already have a child. "But that's the issue," said Gray, "does she?"
******* Another student told Gray that the time and money pro-lifers put into their campaigns should be directed to alleviating poverty. Gray retorted with an analogy saying that people don't criticize the cancer society for not addressing AIDS, because they recognize both as legitimate causes. "So," Gray asked, "Is a pro-life campaign a legitimate cause like a program to help born people? Well, are the unborn human like born people? That's the issue."
******* During the question and answer period, a male student shouted at Gray, "You're insane!" Gray responded by thanking the student: "By calling me insane you're showing me that my arguments are so good you are unable to refute them; instead, you resort to attacking what you perceive my character to be."
******* Another student complained, "This isn't a debate!" Gray responded that she was willing to debate but many abortion supporters declined the opportunity. ******* In fact, Henry Morgentaler was recently asked to debate Gray at McMaster University in Hamilton. His assistant declined on his behalf.
******* Following the talk, pro-life organizers handed out cookies to attendees. Pro-abortion students were taken aback at the kind gesture. The host's outreach and Gray's composure showed the abortion supporters that pro-lifers are respectful and kind even when abortion supporters treat them with hostility.

******* item 11 CHRISTIAN ASSAULTED FOR OPPOSING FLAUNTING OF PERVERSION ON THE STREETS
******* From: Bill Whatcott via Robert A. Jason
******* Sent: Monday, June 12, 2006
******* My name is Merle Terlesky and I am a Christian living in Calgary, Alberta. On Sunday I attended along with another Christian brother the local homosexual pride day here in our city. However, we did not attend as supporters but rather in an open sign of disagreement of so called pride days.
******* As we stood on the street corner with our signs that read no pride in sodomy we watched the parade of dancing homosexuals go by us. Except for the usual chants of bigot etc that was railed against us it was going rather peaceful. Then 2 men one on a bicycle spit at both of us and continued on. When I chased the fellow on the bicycle and later gave up and turned away I was then jumped from behind by a gay activist twice my size. I was thrown to the ground (clearly shown on the local TV coverage) and kicked and punched until my brother in the Lord Jeff was able to intervene and save my life. I suffered bruises and am very sore but I am ok.
******* While I forgive the man that assaulted me I can not simply accept what happened to me today as hundreds stood by and watched. The local City TV news station reported us as being Those in Calgary who are still not tolerant. On that I say yes you are right. I am not and never will be tolerant of the celebration of sodomy in our streets. I will not despite the violence inflicted upon me be silent. Scripture does not call upon me to accept the sins of our society and the degradation of what God intended for human sexuality .
******* What happened today will pass and my wounds will heal, but Calgary and our country will continue in a downward spiral if good Christians do not stand up to this immorality.
******* Fear of insults and attack wont stop this drive to demoralize our young into a world of sexual depravity. Parents must speak up when their kids are being indoctrinated with 2 mommies and 2 daddys education in our schools. We must resist education that includes the roles of homosexuals as upstanding citizens. We must all stand up and speak up when our mayor declares a Pride day. Its our city will you speak out?

******* item 12 "QUEER HISTORY TO BE TAUGHT IN B.C. SCHOOLS? By Stephen Gray
******* From: "Robert A. Jason"
******* Date: Thu, 13 Jul 2006
******* British Columbia is giving a same-sex couple an unprecedented role in a review of the provincial curriculum to ensure respectful teachings about sexual orientation from kindergarten to Grade 12. (Vancouver Sun June 16, 2006)
******* The same-sex couple who have achieved this unprecedented role are described in a Vancouver Sun story of Dec. 29, 2004, as being two men who are gay rights activists, one being the husband of the other. I must admit I am confused. Can a man be the husband of another man? But hey, who knows better than the Vancouver Sun? After all, they are the informed media and write words of wisdom. Still, it is strange that two men can force the B.C. government to surrender to their agenda. Could this be called queer power? What about all those parents who have children in kindergarten to Grade 12? Why are they not being consulted on this? Do these two homosexual men have more influence with the B.C. government than the childrens parents? And do the parents want this curriculum taught to their children? The National Post of June 17, 2006, had this to say about the B.C. government's deal with this twosome:
******* "The deal would also appear to include an agreement by the province to restrict the rights of parents to have their children sit outside during the controversial new lectures. We are all for the teaching of gay history and respect for sexual diversity in age-appropriate lessons in senior grades. But Mr. Oppal and his Cabinet colleagues seem to have consented to granting a pressure group extraordinary power to propagandize in the public schools, without chance for rebuttal."
******* And the homosexual newspaper, Xtra West, on June 7, 2006, had this to say on the matter: BC Attorney General Wally Oppal says the government recognizes that the existing curriculum excludes queers. [1]
******* The Vancouver Sun of June 16, 2006, went on to say about one of the men, that he wanted the following taught in the schools: "Queer history and historical figures, the presence of positive queer role models -- past and present -- the contributions made by queers to various epochs, societies and civilizations and legal issues relating to (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered) people, same-sex marriage and adoption."
******* One wonders: if queer history is going to be taught will they teach the children that queer behaviour can be dangerous to their health? This information from the government of Canada website is surely a part of queer history in our country:
******* In Canada, the HIV/AIDS epidemic continues to grow despite the efforts of governments, community-based organizations, national non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the health care sector, researchers and a legion of committed and dedicated volunteers across the country. The Centre for Infectious Disease Prevention and Control (CIDPC) estimates that 56 000 people in Canada were living with HIV infection at the end of 2002 - a 12 per cent increase from previous estimates in 1999. Men who have sex with men (MSM) continue to be the most affected group," [2]
******* If groups of children are going to be taught queer history surely it is incumbent that they also be taught the consequences of queer behaviour. After all, it is in their interests to know that this type of lifestyle can be dangerous to their health. "Queer history" will have negative consequences.

******* item 13 CANADIAN PROFESSOR FINED FOR STATING OPPOSITION TO HOMOSEXUALITY by Jim Brown
******* From: Robert A. Jason
******* Sent: Wednesday, July 26, 2006
******* (AgapePress) - A Canadian professor has been fined two weeks pay by a Nova Scotia university for telling a student that homosexuality is an unnatural lifestyle. But despite the disciplinary measures imposed against the educator, he says he refuses to succumb to the administration's "intimidation."
******* Cape Breton University (CBU) fined veteran history professor David Mullan $2,100 in response to two human rights complaints filed by a homosexual student who coordinates the campus' Sexual Diversity Office. The student took umbrage at two letters the professor had written to his former Anglican bishop two years ago.
******* The letters posted on Mullan's website criticized the bishop and the Anglican Church of Canada for their acceptance of homosexual "marriage." CBU student Shane Wallis was offended by the content of the professor's letters and lodged a formal human rights complaint with the university.
******* After the first complaint was lodged, Mullan responded to an unsolicited e-mail from Wallis, responding to the charge of a human rights offense and stating that "homosexuality is a repudiation of nature and the apotheosis of unbridled desire." The student then filed another complaint, and CBU officials decided to punish the professor.
******* Mullan claims CBU has "declared war on free speech." University officials "are trying to send a message about their seriousness concerning this harassment and discrimination policy," he says, "and I do believe the administration wants to use me 'pour encourages les autres' (to encourage the others) to toe the line. Well, it's an outrage, and I am grieving it."
******* The history scholar suggests that the same pro-homosexual attitude behind the university's actions seems to be at work throughout his country. He says giving protected status to homosexuals is a "national obsession" in Canada.
******* "I think a lot of the human rights material and also the substance of many cases in this country, that substance does seem to revolve around the 'homosex' business," Mullan observes. "And there have been many cases across the country," he adds, "both in institutional and provincial human rights tribunals, and also a number of cases going to provincial Supreme Courts and even to the Supreme Court of Canada."
******* Despite being punished by Cape Breton University officials, Professor Mullan says he does not intend to stop speaking his mind. The school's Faculty Association, which is recognized as a union, is filing a grievance on his behalf.

******* item 15 A FEARLESS BISHOP WILL SOON FACE A POLITICAL KANGAROO COURT
******* From: Citizens Centre for Freedom and Democracy via "Deanne Fernandes"
******* Date: Tue, 5 Apr 2005
******* Who will support this courageous bishop ?
******* For those who wish to send a mesage of support, he may be contacted at : Bishop F. Henry ([email protected])
******* Canadians are about to see a textbook example of how governments shut down free speech and freedom of religion.
******* Calgary's plain-spoken Catholic bishop, Fred Henry, has been taken to the Alberta Human Rights Commission. Having been summoned there myself on a bogus complaint of publishing "racism" in years gone by, I can only wish him well.
******* In January, Henry published an open letter on "gay marriage" saying that (1) homosexual activity undermines the family, (2) that the state should employ its "coercive power" to curtail such activity, and (3) that homosexual acts are "evil," whether performed in private or public.
******* This prompted two homosexuals, Calgary Herald columnist Norman Greenfield and lesbian Carol Johnson, to file separate complaints of discrimination.
******* It should be noted here that if the Klein government had opted out of the Supreme Court's 1998 "Vriend" decision, such a complaint could not be heard today. Klein allowed the courts to write "sexual orientation into Alberta's law, even though Alberta legislators had repeatedly refused to do so.
******* Bishop Henry will discover that Human Rights tribunals are really political correctness panels.
******* First he will have to meet the complainants in the company of a mediator. They'll have a long and pleasant discussion, perhaps over lunch, and agree that they disagree.
******* Then it will go before a tribunal of three or so ardent left-liberals--perhaps a visible minority feminist, one out-of-closet gay clergyman, and a sociology prof who's still in it. I'm guessing about this, obviously, but believe me, the talent pool for these tribunals is not chosen at random from the phone book. It's a largely self-selected clique of "progressive" experts in "equality issues."
******* Among the interveners will be one or two federally-funded lawyers from the feminist Legal Education Action Fund (LEAF). They always show up.
******* Bishop Henry will notice that the tribunal spends more time talking Greek to the LEAF lawyers than it does listening to why he thinks he has a Charter right to state his religious beliefs publicly.
******* In vain he will cite the authority of the Holy Bible, pointing out that the Book he has been asked to swear his evidence on contains scathing denunciations of homosexual activity.
******* The complainants will counter that publishing those anti-gay Bible citations (not even the actual words, just the reference numbers) has already been condemned by the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, and later by a court.
******* In short, Henry's judges already consider the Bible akin to hate literature, and if this Alberta tribunal had any gumption it would try to ban it. But it won't.
******* Instead, it will spend hours assessing the "content of the bishop's communication," the "tone," the "image conveyed," the "vulnerability of the offended group," and "the degree to which the expression reinforces stereotypes," all the while denying they're curtailing his free speech.
******* This is the fraudulent business they make their living at.
******* Legally speaking discrimination occurs when someone on the protected list feels discriminated against. The law is in their feelings. This principle has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
******* It doesn't matter what the facts are, or what the Bible says, or what the Charter of Rights says, only whether Greenfield and Johnson feel offended.
******* Once that's on the record, it's all over but setting the compensation.

******* WOMEN WHO'VE HAD LEGAL ABORTIONS ARE OUTRAGED THAT CANCER SOCIETIES REFUSE TO WARN WOMEN ABOUT MORE THAN 2 DOZEN STUDIES LINKING BREAST CANCER TO ABORTION!
******* Canada Silent No More is a registered non profit society of post abortive women, reaching out to the thousands of other women across Canada who have been hurt and/or damaged by legal abortion physically or emotionally. “We are furious that cancer societies are denying credible research proving that induced abortion indeed is significantly linked to Breast Cancer, a deadly disease, ? states Denise Mountenay Founder/President.
******* We thank the cancer organizations for the good they do, and we understand that it may be "politically incorrect" for them to say anything negative about abortion as they rely on millions of dollars in donations and from government coffers to pay for their gross salaries, office and expenses every year.
******* However, we are shouting from the roof tops that women have a right to know that if they choose to have an abortion they could be choosing breast cancer! It has to do with the estrogens factor, the science is clear, the common sense astounding. It is un-refuted that high doses of estrogens can become carcinogenic over time. That is why hormone replacement therapy is now taboo and long term use of birth control pills can also lead to cancer.
******* When a healthy woman is pregnant, naturally 2,000 times the estrogens are pumped into her breasts in the first trimester to later become milk. An induced abortion artificially terminates that pregnancy, so these cells never get to differentiate and mature to breast milk as intended for the newborn: thus leaving these cells to stagnate. See www.abortionbreastcancer.com and The Breast Cancer Prevention Institute at www.bcpinstitute.org and www.afterabortion.org for references and research.
******* The two million post abortive women, friends and families will be outraged to learn that these studies have been around for many years and kept under cover! While cancer societies and foundations are flourishing in sponsors, money and rhetoric…breast cancer rates continue to rise and more women are being diagnosed and dying every year.
******* It is unconscionable that they belittle the mountain of evidence, and refuse to warn women about the link between abortion and breast cancer as a preventable risk factor! To date eight medical associations, only one breast cancer society, a number of Physicians and Breast Cancer surgeons are acknowledging the link.
******* We urge the cancer societies to do the right thing and warn women of this link, it is a matter of life and death.

******* item 17 VANCOUVER ARCHBISHOP GRANTS VICTORY TO PARENTS IN SEX-ED BATTLE
******* From: "LifeSite News" via
******* Sent: Monday, March 25, 2002
******* VANCOUVER, March 25, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Catholic parents across Canada have long struggled with the issue of sex-education programs in Catholic schools. Two of the texts most commonly used in Canadian Catholic schools, "Fully Alive" and "Growing in Love", have come under intense criticism by
concerned Catholic parents for their controversial presentation of human sexuality even to very young children. However, a breakthrough in the struggle has occurred for the first time in a Canadian diocese.
******* Archbishop Adam Exner of the Diocese of Vancouver has announced that his diocese will follow the directives of the Holy See on the matter and leave parents in charge of educating their children on sexual matters.
******* Parents in more than nine parishes with the support of their priests rallied against the mandated use of Fully Alive and Growing in Love. Petitions were sent to priests and the archbishop objecting to the programs and quoting the text of the Vatican document "The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality." Those involved with the struggle told LifeSite that the 1995 document, from the Pontifical Council for the Family was indispensable in making their case.
******* While the Office of Religious Education in the diocese had rebuffed parents' requests, Archbishop Exner ruled definitively on the matter Wednesday March 20. He called a meeting of the priests of the archdiocese and responded positively to the parents' requests.
******* Archbishop Exner said that:
******* -the diocese recognizes the primary role of parents in education on matters of sexuality
******* - No classroom teaching on sexuality is to be given at all in Catholic schools before grade 7
******* - and in grade 7, if anything is to be used in the classroom, the only acceptable material would be the Love and Life program by Ignatius Press (a program favoured by faithful Catholics)
******* - Every parish is to have training sessions to prepare parents for their tasks in educating their own children on these matters and provide them with resources to that effect.

******* item 19 ON A WISH LIST AND A PRAYER - DAVID GILBERT'S WISH TO ABOLISH ABORTION
******* editorial from BC Catholic by Paul Schratz July 9, 2007
The damage done to Canada's demographic landscape, and its population, from abortion has been largely the work of one person, Dr. Henry Morgentaler.
******* How fitting that the efforts of another individual, Dave Gilbert of Ottawa, has put the abortion epidemic back on Canada's discussion table.
******* It took Morgentaler years of criminal charges and acquittals from juries, courts of appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as picking up support from sympathetic media, feminists, humanists, and other progressives, to lead the way for abortion becoming an uncontrolled event in Canada.
******* It took Gilbert a few weeks and Facebook to resurrect the topic; such is the power of the world wide web.
******* When the CBC launched its Great Canadian Wish List contest in May, it no doubt expected to generate some buzz and score a ratings coup along the lines of its other contests: The Greatest Canadian and the Seven Wonders of Canada.
******* Little did it expect to become the tool by which a single pro-lifer would return abortion to the public agenda.
******* Using the Internet networking site Facebook, through which the CBC was charting Canadians' top wishes and how much support those wishes were receiving, Gilbert posted his No. 1 wish: an end to abortion in Canada.
******* The Wilfrid Laurier University student, a Catholic, was able to strike a nerve - in fact, the nerves of 9,543 people - as his wish spread across the land and introduced Facebook to many people for whom the Internet had been merely an e-mail machine.
******* It also awakened a sleeping giant, the contented and comfortable pro-abortion movement, which quickly became as defensive as a selfish 5-year-old. It posted a blog entry critical of the whole campaign, proposed a pathetic alternative wish to keep abortion legal, and began rallying its troops from coast to coast, and probably beyond.
******* With histrionics more appropriate to fending off a home invader, abortion supporters began accusing the pro-lifers of misusing Facebook by promoting hatred, of not posting their photographs, of creating duplicate accounts, of having no other Facebook connections, of rallying Americans to the cause: all accusations that could equally be made of the abortion supporters. (In fact, a quick look at the abortion supporters' profiles reveals more than a few photographs of cats or blank images.)
******* In the interest of disclosure, I'll admit I'm guilty. I registered on Facebook solely because of the Wish List. I admit, I didn't put my picture, and not just because I don't have a cat. And it's to my dying shame that I'm a member of no other Facebook social networks.
******* To suggest, however, that this represents a "hijacking" of the process, an allegation that's being tossed about like confetti on various discussion boards, is like accusing viewers of Shrek 3 of hijacking the motion picture box office process.
******* In the end, more than 9,000 people used the Facebook/Wish List process for exactly its intended purpose, which was to build a network that would identify what's on Canadians' minds.
******* Now perhaps tuition-free schooling (the No. 5 Wish) is on Canadians' minds, or drastic action to protect the environment (No. 6), but obviously not to the degree that stopping abortion was, since together they don't even come close to No. 1.
******* If millions of tech-savvy students and environmentalists across the country were unable to, or chose not to, rally others to their cause, it suggests that perhaps we've been given a skewed impression of what's really important to people.
******* What Gilbert has managed to do is get the public's discomfort with abortion into the limelight, something that was preceded in May by a front-page article in the National Post questioning why abortion, an issue that so many people are passionate about, is never publicly discussed.
******* The embarrassment of the CBC was evident. It grudgingly accepted the baby it had conceived, clearly appalled that the No. 1 Wish didn't deal with something like global warming or health care. It downscaled its promised major weekend coverage to practically nothing, and unless you searched for it on YouTube, you probably missed it altogether.
******* No matter. Abortion is a topic for discussion again, regardless of the objections of those who are so wedded to the abortion cause that they will throw every accusation and insult at those who use legitimate means to oppose it.
******* So, a belated Happy Birthday to Canada, and may Dave Gilbert's fine effort help lead one day to the birthdays of hundreds of thousands of Canadian babies who would otherwise have been sacrifices to "choice."
******* And may all of us be reminded of just how much harm, or how much good, a single person can do.

******* item 20 CANADA'S FACEBOOK EXPERIMENT SHOWS ABORTION LAW NOT SO POPULAR
******* from LifeNews.com Pro-Life News Report?******* date Tuesday July 3, 2007
******* Ottawa, Canada (LifeNews.com) -- A prominent media outlet in Canada got a rude shock when it conducted an experiment on the popular community web site Facebook and found that the number one desire of Canadians was to end abortion. The CBC saw more than 16,000 people respond to its Great Canadian Wishlist. The CBC likely thought the more liberal residents of the country would pick another political topic to advocate or would be more likely to support abortion.
******* However, Canadians proved the media elite wrong and showed the pro-life movement is alive and well. With 9,543 supporters the number one wish is to "Abolish abortion in Canada." Jim Hughes, the president of the Campaign Life Coalition, one of the leading pro-life groups in the country, said he was pleased by the results but not surprised. "This should come as no surprise to anyone," he said in a statement LifeNews.com obtained. "We have always noted and the polls have confirmed that the majority of Canadians want protection for the unborn child," Hughes explained. "This poll of sorts by the CBC and Facebook only confirms what we have been saying all along."

******* Sent: Wednesday, February 28, 2001
******* Pro-choice stand condemned
******* Calgary's Catholic bishop said Tuesday he's prepared to order Calgary Separate School Board officials to ban Progressive Conservative Leader Joe Clark from its schools.
******* Calgary's Bishop Frederick Henry told a local radio talk show Tuesday that it's "scandalous behaviour" for a Roman Catholic politician like Clark, MP for Calgary Centre, to declare himself pro-choice on the abortion issue.
******* "Practically speaking, this may mean that Joe Clark is not going to be a welcomed personage to speak in Catholic schools in this diocese. And it may well be that should Joe Clark predecease me, he may not have the bishop burying him from the cathedral."
******* While Henry stopped short of threatening Clark with excommunication, he said the religious scandal is "very serious."
******* He said Clark's vocal pro-abortion stance is unacceptable for anyone calling himself Catholic.
******* The bishop said he was not going to deny Clark a Christian burial, but he was going "to call him to account for his statements in public, which I think are scandalous."
******* The bishop made the comments on the Dave Rutherford show on QR 77.
******* Clark's press secretary, speaking on his behalf, said Clark "respects a woman's right to choose. He doesn't have anything to add to that," said Marie Chantel Lapine.
******* "Of course, the bishop has his own opinion on this matter."
******* Henry said that, rather than defending their professed faith, "sometimes politicians prefer to bury their heads in the sand and thereby expose another part of their anatomies for public viewing."
******* Confronted with the possibility of excommunicating Clark, however, Henry said "this is the wrong way" to resolve the problem.
******* "Basically, what we have to do is proclaim the Gospel, call people to conversion . . . remind people that they must serve God first of all," he said.
******* "One is seeking to get people to convert -- to change their minds, and hitting them over the head with a club is not going to do much good."
******* The bishop condemned the tendency of Catholic politicians to say, "I'm personally opposed to abortion, but I cannot force my morality on others."
******* He compared that to someone being "personally opposed to child abuse" but unwilling to defend them.
******* "We do it (impose morality) all the time; it's a matter of what morality we're going to impose," Henry said.
******* "If one happens to be a Catholic, there cannot be a split between one's internal kind of views and thoughts. . . and what one says publicly. One has a duty, whether he likes it or not, to preach the word of God. This is part of the very mission of the church, which is not confined to guys like myself who wear this funny Roman collar . . ."
