I'll assume you're here because you're curious so I'll tell a little about myself. My name is Garland Cary. I was born and raised in small town Mississippi. It's often hard for others to imagine but growing up in a small southern town is really not so bad. Besides a few less entertainment options, it was the standard childhood: friends, fantasy and a freedom one only appreciates in retrospect. I caused my fair share of mischief but, overall, I was a quiet kid, more likely to while away a summer day reading and writing than climbing trees and playing ball.
My parents are both creative; mom a talented painter and potter, dad, an engineer by profession, a fine portraitist. When it came time to find my own direction in life I strangely chose engineering. While proficient in math and science, I lacked passion for it and eventually turned to design, which blends my technical skills and creative desire. Naturally, I'm a happier camper.
I'm currently living in Birmingham, AL and working for a small advertising agency. In my spare time I enjoy writing, photography, reading, tennis, music and movies.
