Chapter 27

Oil pulled Tao away from Nook and began pounding on him�similar to how Tao did so to him a few months back at the graduation party. The two were going head to head and neither one seemed to want to back down.

"Stop it!� Nook screamed at them as she attempted to pull them apart from each other. �Stop it!�

They ignored her, Oil was too intent of beating the crap out of Tao for coming onto Nook that he blocked out any reasonable judgment. Tao was as equally tuned out as Oil. He was angry at Oil for treating so horribly, and if what Tanya said was true�then he had more reason to teach Oil a lesson.

Nook backed off from the two. She held her head in her head in her hands. She was breaking down� she couldn�t take it anymore.

"Why is this happening to me�� Nook sobbed, she had just hit reality with Tanya, now this�it was too much�too much for one person to handle.

"STOOOPPPP!!!� Nook screamed at the two savages. �Just stop it!�

They both stopped dead in their tracks when they heard her scream. Oil and Tao tried to go towards her, but she stepped back from both of them while shaking her head.

"What the hell do you think I am??? Some piece of property that can be handed around to anyone as they please?? I have feelings too you know! And I�m not some sick replacement for Tanya when she dumps both of you!� She pointed at them, �Enough is enough�do whatever you want! Kill each other for all I care�but don�t try to say it�s because you love me! If truly you loved me�you wouldn�t have done this in the first place!� She directed the last statement more towards Oil than Tao.

"I hate you both! And I never want to see you ever again!� She ran off into the house, tears soaking her face.

"Nook wait!� Tao tried to run after her but was blocked off by Oil, who pushed him back.

"What the heck do you think you�re doing?� Oil scowled at him.

"What does it look like I�m doing,� Tao pushed Oil and tried to go after Nook.

"Get the hell off of my property or else!� Oil threatened.

"Or else what?� Tao challenged back.

"You know what I�m capable of�I don�t need to tell you what money can do�� Oil mocked him.

Tao was distressed. He wanted to explain his actions to Nook, but he also knew Oil wouldn�t let him see her tonight.

"F**K!� Tao threw his hands down and left for the other direction.

Aum ran up to Tao after looking for them for so long, �Tao�what happened?� She asked but he brushed past her without a word. Aum looked over to Oil, who had a satisfied smile on his face, she shook her head and trotted after Tao. "Hey Tao! Wait up!�

Oil was glad Tao finally decided to back down. �One down�one more to go�� He looked up at Nook�s room and ran into the house.

"Shit!� Tao got to his car and banged on the hood. He turned around and leaned on it while watching Aum walk up to him.

"What the heck happened back there?� Aum asked.

"Nothing�� Tao lied.

"Liar�if something didn�t happen you wouldn�t be this angry.� She folded her arms across her chest and looked at him.

"I�ll tell you later�come�on get in the car.� He pulled the keys out of his pocket and opened the passenger door for her.

"Oh no you don�t!� Aum took the keys away from him.

"What the hell Aum! Give that back!�

"I�m not about to let you get into an accident! You�re in no condition to drive unless you cool down!�

"Aum I�m not playing with you�give them back,� He tried to take them from her but she hid them behind her back.

"I�m not either.� She said seriously, �Besides�if you get in an accident I�m unlucky too! I�m doing this for my own safety!� She opened the door to the driver�s side and started the ignition. As she was pulling out, she yelled at Tao, �You getting in or what?�

Tao trudged unwillingly over to the car and got it. He looked up at Nook�s window, �Take care Nook�� he said softly as Aum drove off.

Oil sprinted up the stairs and stopped short at Nook�s room. He grabbed the door handle, but it was locked.

"Nook! Open up!� He banged on the door while calling out for her.

Nook was inside trying to pack up the essentials she would need and left behind anything that would not be much use to her. Her suitcase was already half full, she was leaving behind a lot of things. She rushed back and forth in the room trying to gather up the last things she would need. She ignored the banging on the door and tuned out Oil�s voice. She tried not to pack the tears that streamed down her face, she didn�t want any memories of anyone. Her past was all a lie, her friends were better off as enemies, and her love was�not hers.

"NOOK! DO YOU HEAR ME!!! OPEN UP!!!� Oil bellowed out, still banging on the door.

Nook tried to shut out his voice, but it wasn�t working. She didn�t want to see him right now�he was the cause of all her troubles�him and Tanya�

"NOOK!! I SWEAR IF YOU DON�T OPEN THIS DOOR, I�LL BREAK IT DOWN!!!� Oil was already trying to break it down.

"Just go away!!!� Nook screamed through the door, �I don�t want to see you ever again!!! Leave me alone!!� She gathered up the rest of her stuff and piled them in one corner. Suddenly, she could hear the sound of wood breaking.

"What the---?�

The next thing she knew, Oil was coming through the door and splinters of wood were flying everywhere. The door was broken in two pieces�one laid on the ground while the other hung onto the hinges. The look on Oil�s face was indescribable; all Nook knew was that nothing good could come of it.

"I told you I wanted to be alone!� She yelled at Oil, �And what are you? Some kind of animal that you feel the need to break the door!�

Oil didn�t say anything, he walked up to Nook and grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into his chest.

"Let go!� She tried to pull back but he violently pulled her closer.

"Oh? So now Tao�s the only one who can do this to you huh?� He spoke angrily as his grip on her tightened.

"What does that matter!? It�s my life and I can do whatever I want!� She looked up at him.

"Your life huh?� He retorted, �So you can go around sleeping with anyone you want too? Is that it?�

Nook pushed him and slapped him twice.

"What right do you have to say that to me?? And you�re any better?? You and Tanya and your sick plans!� Nook screamed at him.

"This has nothing to do with Tanya! This is about you and me!� He yelled and pulled her back into his arms. �Besides�you made me lose face today! Now all my clients think that my wife is having an affair with some guy and her husband is too stupid to do anything about it!�

"It�s all about face with you isn�t it? Well did you ever stop to think about how much I lost face with what you did to me at the party?? I was so ashamed and all you did was make my life worse than it already was! What kind of man are you to blame me when you�re 100 times worse!!� Nook spoke assertively.

Oil let out a horrible laugh that scared Nook. �You know what Nook, I�ll tell you something,� He pulled her close to him and whispered in her ear, �I never did anything to you�ever�� he laughed and continued, �the only reason I said I did was because I knew that with someone like Tanya, you have to attack her pride for her to fall�and you were the easiest thing to use to have her come back to me��

Nook felt sick�she was tricked�she knew Oil married her to get back at Tanya �but she didn�t know it went back to the party. Her face went pale as she looked at Oil�s mocking face. She screamed and pushed Oil away from her.

"You made me believe that you�� the words were stuck in her throat, anger crept into every inch of her body as she looked at the man who ruined her life. She took off the ring he gave her and threw it at him�the diamond made a cut on his face as blood dripped from the wound.

Oil wiped off the blood casually and advanced towards her.

"Get away from me you sicko!! I hate you�I WANT A DIVORCE!!!� Nook screamed at him.

Oil stopped in his tracks, �You think I�m gonna give you a divorce so that you can go to Tao?! Sorry honey but I�m not the type to share what�s mine with other people�besides,� Oil looked crazy, �unless Tanya comes back to me crawling on her hands and knees�I�m never gonna let you go!� He tackled her and threw her onto the bed. �You think I�m gonna let Tao have you when I haven�t even had a try?� He began trying to strip her clothes off.

"Get off!!!� Nook screamed and kicked, Oil pinned her arms down and used his body to try and subside her. �Jerk! Asshole!!! I HATE YOU!!! I�LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!!!� She tried to push him off her, but every time she did, he threw her back onto the bed. He succeeded in tearing off the rest of her dress as she lied under him.

"Remember this! I always get what I want!� Oil whispered into her ear while he kissed her neck.

Nook�s energy was running out, the shock from tonight was too much for her�she wasn�t able to fight off Oil anymore, and as he kissed her body, tears flowed infinitely from her eyes�she laid motionless as Oil made her his wife�

The moon shone it�s silver light in through the window and reflected off Nook�s tears. She lied in bed as Oil�s arms wrapped tightly around her waist and his head on her shoulder. The feel of cotton on this summer night was cool and felt awkward against her bare skin. She looked at the clock�it was 3:00 in the morning, and she was probably the only soul left awake. She wiped the tears that refused to stop, and would probably never despite the promise she had made to herself. Nook flinched as Oil inched closer to her, hugging her tighter. She slowly tried to move his arms off her. She then slipped on a crisp white night gown and headed downstairs, making sure that he would not wake up.

Nook walked out into the garden that once held a party�a party that opened her eyes to the people around her�that there were few people she would be able to ever trust again, that was�if she would ever trust anyone again. Before she knew it, she was standing at the place where she planted her lilies. Nook knelt down and cupped one of the blossoms that were struggling to live after yesterday�s incident. It was a bit bruised, and the brown creases were showing�but it continued to live. Her tears watered the lily as she spoke softly to it:

"We�re so much alike right now�hurt and disappointed�yet we�re still trying to live�� She curled down beside the plant and tried to warm in with her body. She looked up at the moon and thought about the story of the little rabbit who would stare up at the moon, but there would never be a time where the moon would come down to the rabbit. So the little rabbit looked up and waited for the moon�always waited. Nook drifted off into sleep, her eyes were swollen from tears, as she murmured, �Because the moon is always too far away��
