Chapter 16 --- Heartaches

Ring� Ring� Ring�

"Hello? This is the Jakrapong resident can I help you?�

"Yes, this is operator from the hospital calling for relatives for Khun Jakrapong Senior.�

"Oh, I am his wife, Benz Jakrapong. Is my husband ok? Why is he in the hospital?� Benz listened to the operator with concern for her rich husband.

"Oh alright, Khun Benz. I think you need to sit down, because I have serious news for you.� said the operator.

As the operator told Benz the news, she dropped the phone and fainted, and the maid helped her up and tried to ask her what had happened to their boss.

Benz woke up an hour later, screaming out her husband�s name out loud which scared the two maids that were sitting next to her, taking care of her. Benz woke up with a shock and told the two maids to call Hugo right away.

Once Hugo got the emergency call from his father�s house, he went there right away.

"Khun Benz, what is going on? What happened to my father?� Hugo came to his father�s house and questioned Benz about his father right away.

Benz got up from the fancy couch and walked toward Hugo, who was standing by the door.

"Hugo...ummm, I think you need to sit down for this. Your father...Umm...your father was in a car accident this morning when he was going to his meeting. He is in the emergency room right now, they said he only has a 10 percent chance of being saved, and I don�t know what to do. I don�t want to go there and cry in front of everybody.� Benz was crying and had a shaky voice while hugging Hugo for support.

Although Hugo did not agree with his father and Benz�s wedding, he still respected Benz and was always nice to her.

"How dear you touch my husband you B***H� Anna walked in the room seeing Benz and Hugo hugging.

Hugo looked at Anna, and ignored her jealousy and walked Benz over to the couch to comfort her. �Are you feeling better Khun Benz? When you�re feeling better we can both go visit my father.� Hugo said with concern and forgot Anna ever walked in on them. Anna gnashed her teeth and started to scream �Ahhhhhhhhhh�ahhhhhhhhhhh� How can you just ignore me like that Hugo and hug that whore right in front of me.�

Hugo was annoyed and shouted back �Damn you Anna, my father is in the hospital right now, and he only has a 10 percent chance of living and all you can do is be jealous of nothing. Why don�t you just go home! I won�t be home tonight; I will sleep in the hospital until I see my father.�

"Oh my god Hugo, I didn�t know about your father�I am so sor sorr-� Anna couldn�t say it, because she was ashamed of being over protective of her husband, she didn�t know he was feeling hurt.

Hugo cut her off �Stop it Anna, and save it. I am tired of you for today. Just go home would you.� Hugo said with irritated.

Ring... Ring� Ring�

"Hello Jakrapong resident� Hugo picked up the phone. It was the operator again updating them about the news.

"I am sorry, but your father just past away� The operator from the hospital sadly announce the death of Jakrapong Senior.

Once Hugo got the news, everybody at the house went to the hospital and cried for Jakrapong Senior. Benz fainted and cried the whole time.

Jakrapong Senior had two children. When he remarried to Benz, Hugo left the house and went to America and studied at UCLA. As for his daughter, Mary, she left the house and went to Australia and got married. She never contacted any of her family members once she got married and no one tried to contact her either.

Hugo happened to come back to Thailand and to study for his Masters degree. By coming back to Thailand, he found out the news about his father and their company.

Three weeks passed since Jakrapong Senior had passed away. They did the ceremony in the temple and buried him. At first, they were going to make a big and public funeral. But Hugo realized his father had more enemies than friends in the world. Therefore they made a very small funeral and only family members and servants in the house could attend.

But the news reporter got the news and the story was on the front page of every newspaper in Thailand the next day.

"Oh shit, look at this news. I don�t think you wanna see this?� Ken said to Tik. Ken and Tik always had their morning coffee together. They talked and acted as friends when they were together and hanging out. But once they start working and in the office Ken knows his position and so does Tik. They are just co-workers.

"Don�t need to tell me Ken, I already heard about the news and already read that too.� Tik said with no sympathy for the man that passed away.

"Ahh�I see you still keep up the news about that couple huh? Give it up Tik, you don�t want her. Even if Benz wants you, I know you don�t want her back!� Ken said as a friend who helped him from being heart broken to a rich businessman.

"Who said I wanted her back? She and I are through! I thought I told you that before. I just want to know how she will survive in this world without her rich husband supporting her, that�s all. And if she ever crawls back on her knees to me, I still won�t look at her.� Tik said with confidence.

"Are you sure? Or are you just saying that just to make yourself feel better. Do you still have feelings for her, even after all these years??� Ken questioned him.

"Shut up man. Let�s go back to the office. I�m tired of you and your questioning.�

"Ha Ha Ha�You�ve just gotten tired of it?? I�ve been questioning you for years... hahaha...� laughed Ken.

Both Ken and Tik walked into their office and the first thing they saw was Kat in the office talking to someone on the phone and looked like she was getting annoyed at the person on the other line.

"Kat is that for me?� Tik walked up and asked her.

"I think it is. There�s this lady on the line, says her name is Benz and that she demands to speak with you. I told her, you weren�t in the office yet, but she started to yell at me, and started to ask me why I�m in your office. She didn�t believe that I was your secretary and started too babble on even more.� Kat was glad Tik came and took the phone from Kat.

Tik could see Kat was getting very frustrated with Benz, so he told Ken to cheer her up while he talked on the phone with Benz.

"How is it going Benz? I heard you just curse out my Secretary. That is not the Benz I used to know is it?� Tik played cool. He was surprise that Benz called him so soon, after all these years she didn�t once try to contact him. He was also surprised that she had no children with her husband.

"Oh Hi Tik, how are you? About that young lady, she was very rude and it took her forever to give the phone to you. I don�t think she is a good worker. I think you should have someone else, someone who knows you, like I know you.� Benz said to give him a hint.

"What you want Benz� Tik said so bluntly

"Nothing Tik, I just want us to be good friends again. That is all.� Benz said with a nice and lovable voice.

"Well, good friends don�t lose contact of each other when one side is happy and wealthy while the other side is poor and about to die. And good friends don�t contact each other when their husband dies, hoping to find another one right away.� Tik said directly to her without caring for her feelings.

While Tik was still busy in his office talking to Benz, Ken was trying to cool Kat down in the coffee room.

"Kat are you feeling better now? If you want more sugar for your coffee�umm... there is more. It might sweeten you up. It is better to be sweet than be bitter.� Ken was being lame with his jokes. But Kat laughed anyways. Not because of his joke of course, but him and how he was trying to be funny.

"Oh Ken, thanks for being here. And by the way, who was that person on the phone? Why does she sound so demanding??� Kat was curious.

"Oh� it is a long story. One day, I will tell you.�

"No, tell me now� Please� tell me now�� Kat begged him.

"Umm... ok ok... Promise you won�t tell Khun Tik that I told you his personal story. Ok? You have to promise.�

"I totally promise!� Kat agreed.

Ken sigh� and was figuring out how to make a long story short �Ok Khun Kat to make a long story short, here it goes. Years ago, when Tik and I were still in high school, Benz was his lover. Well, his high school sweetheart that is. They were the perfect couple. She was smart, pretty, and nice. He was handsome, good looking, as you can see, and very caring. Things went down hill when we all graduated. Tik had it bad, he needed moral support because his aunt died, his only remaining blood relative. His parents died when he was younger.� Ken paused because he saw that Kat was confused.

"Umm... Khun Ken, I thought Khun Tik has parents. Isn�t this their company?� Kat questioned.

"See Kat, he was adopted because of his hard work for this company. Ok, let me continue. Benz was Tik�s only moral support when he needed her. But she couldn�t be there because she dumped him to get married. She married a millionaire that was as old as her father. He just passed away recently�Jakrapong Senior, one of the infamous business men alive.� Ken paused again, because he saw Kat daze off.

"Kat... Kat... Kat...� Ken kept calling Kat�s name, but she wasn�t listening, she was thinking about the last name. It sounded familiar.

When she got it she shouted out Hugo�s name �Hugo Jakrapong�

Ken was shocked to get her reaction, �Ummm Yes Yes. Kat... Hugo Jakrapong is his son. Who has gambling problems and had to marry a rich lady to pay off his debt. Ummm... Speaking of that, reminds me of Benz also.� Ken added.

"What you mean Hugo married to pay off his debt and what you mean it is almost like Benz?� Kat was confused.

"Well, it is like this. Hugo left to America to study somewhere for awhile. He came back only to find out his father was broke because Benz spent his father�s money non-stop. Hugo didn�t want to deal with anything at home so he left home and started to gamble to get rid of anger and stress. But he went over board, because he owed a lot of money. But it is ok for him now, he has Khun Anna, a spoiled millionaire that can help him anytime with money, it is sad he had to sell himself for money.� Ken took a moment to sigh before he continued.

"As for Khun Benz, Tik�s old sweetheart. He gave her the world, but she gave him heartaches. Once they were done with school, she sold herself for money. She didn�t want to stay with him because he wasn�t rich like he is now. She sold her pride and her body for money. Tik of course was heart broken for years. Even I don�t know if he is still now, but after Benz, he never took any woman seriously. But I think I should end here for now.� Ken stopped and looked at Kat.

Kat was in her own world putting puzzles together. Kat was thinking to herself �Hugo who left Thailand to go to America and study and met me, and came back to Thailand and married to pay off his debts. What the hell kind of crap is that? As for Khun Tik, the man is heart broken from one girl, and takes his anger off to everyone else. That�s not right! But, now I can understand why he is so bitter about women. He still has no right to take advantage of me! I see why he stayed and comfort me instead of laughing in front of my face when I was crying after finding out Hugo was married. Wow, so much news today, my head can�t handle this�

"Kat� Kat� Kat� H� E� Y� KKKKKKKKAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT� Ken shouted out loud.

Kat jumped up and came back to reality.

"Oh I am sorry Khun Ken. This is just so much information, I can�t handle this.� Kat�s eyes were ready to tear up.

"You mean about Tik and Benz? Why are you feeling sad for them? It was a long time ago.� Ken said with confusion.

Ken did not know that Kat knew Hugo. Kat was still sad about Hugo and that he was married. She was taking the news slowly. She felt even worst to hear that his father passed away. She was somewhat sad about Tik also, and that his lover ditched him to marry Hugo�s father. She could understand his pain.

"Ken, it�s a long story, I tell you some other times.� Kat�s tears started to fall.

Ken did not know what to do, so he gave her some tissues for her tears, and he patted her shoulders just for her to feel some comfort that someone was there for her. She then took his offer and hugged him and started to cry.

At the moment, she thought it was Tik who was holding her while she was crying. Ever since the day Tik held her to sleep, they had been having a very good relationship and conversation.

Tik had been helping her ease her loneliness at her place. He checked up on her after work. Kat left early from work because she has to go to school. Once she gets out of school, Tik�s gets off work, so he goes to her place and has dinner or sometimes help her make dinner.

They were getting to be good friends and seeing each other�s different personalities. Tik didn�t put her down or her pride. He didn�t say anything to offend her, especially nothing about �one night stand�. She didn�t always tell him she hated him. She wasn�t talking back like she used to. They were getting to be good friends and understanding each other better.

"Kat, are you ok? Wanna talk? Kat� do you wanna sit down? You seem like you could use more tissues� Ken didn�t know what to say or to do; he was just standing there and let her cry.

"Sorry for taking so long you g�u�y�s� Tik walked in the coffee room. He was shocked seeing both Ken and Kat hug each other in the middle of working hours, in the office building, in the coffee room.

Tik continued, �What the hell is going on here Ken??�

Tik was looking at the both of them hugging. Ken was looking at Tik and was still holding Kat. As for Kat, she was still in her own world, crying in Ken�s arms.
