Eventing
(Dressage - Cross Country - Show Jumping)
How it Works
Eventing is a combination of 3 events: dressage, cross-country, and stadium jumping. In the real world, the events typically take place over 3 days; for our purposes in Furcadia, they are typically 1-day events.
Horse & rider teams must compete in all three elements of eventing. The participants will all be placed, 1st-10th, in each class. A complete failure to perform, a team that exceeds fault limits in any element, or an absence from a class results in no placement being given. Placements are worth the following amount of points:
1st: 10pts
2nd: 9 pts
3rd: 8 pts
4th: 7 pts
5th: 6 pts
6th: 5 pts
7th: 4 pts
8th: 3 pts
9th: 2 pts
10th: 1 pt
The team that earns the most amount of points wins the 3-day event. Final placements are typically awarded to the 1st-4th place horses overall.
Levels
There are six levels of eventing recognized by FSEA, plus the 1-star(*) through 4-star(****) levels. We recognize and follow the USEA levels of eventing, however, we have shortened the many of the jump course requirements due to the size of Furcadian maps.

Star* Ratings
There are four levels of star ratings for eventing competitions recognized by FSEA. We have borrowed these from the real-life FEI system of 'CCI' and 'CIC' competitions.
CCI, or "Concours Complet International", are three-day events. The order of events is dressage, cross country, then show jumping.
CIC, or "Concours International Combin", are one-day events. The order of events is dressage, show jumping, then cross country.
One-Star*
(Follows FSEA Preliminary rules and procedures.)
Riders must be at least 14 years old.
Horses must be at least 6 years old.
FSEA will approve a maximum of one CCI* event a month, and one CIC* event a month.
Two-Star**
(Follows FSEA Intermediate rules and procedures.)
Riders must be at least 16 years old.
Horses must be at least 6 years old.
FSEA will approve a maximum of one CCI** -or- one CIC** event a month.
Three-Star***
(Follows FSEA Advanced rules and procedures.)
Riders must be at least 18 years old.
Horses must be at least 7 years old.
FSEA will approve a maximum of a total of six CCI*** or CIC*** events a year.
Four-Star****
(Follows FSEA Advanced rules and procedures. The Olympics are an example of a four star event. There are no four-star CIC events.)
Riders must be at least 18 years old.
Horses must be at least 7 years old.
FSEA will only approve three CCI**** events a year, and there must be a minimum of sixty days between these events.
In addition to the star rating system, there are many events held at levels below Preliminary, and thus, they are not given a star rating. Star ratings are considered an introduction to international competition and are thus very competitive.
