Welcome to Funsized Handcrafts: A family owned business since 1974.

Documentation of the Development Process

The purpose of this website is to provide tips and tricks for artist, as well as give customers a chance to purchase handcrafted items. While there is a limited variety, the company plans on broadening its scope on what they can make and keep customers coming back for more.

Defense of the Final Product

The navigation/menu bar is black with pastel color highlight. The active page is highlighted purple while hover is blue, for the dropdown the hover color is pink. The background color is wood tile and the font colors are purple and different variants of blue. To ensure everything is legible I added an ivory background behind the text. I kept my colors simple as I've learned from past experience. To ensure everything is legible it’s easier to go with simple colors. Sometimes the more complex the color scheme the more you have to test and make sure everything is still legible.

I kept it basic and used the generic family, monospace and font family Courier New. I was going to go with a curlier font style, Lucida Handwriting. After testing it, I realized the font was hard too read. Using a font called PatchFun, I was able to create my headline/logo. In some places where others would have used the headings, I used images.

To make the website easy to use I made sure the navigation bar was on all supporting pages. I also made it so that most pages are responsive and able to be viewed from mobile devices.

Opportunities for Improvement & Growth

In the future I would like to make it so that customers are able to make online purchase and not just view the merchandise. I would also have liked to provide a step-by-step slide show or directional pictures and pages for the artist who wants to create on their own work not just someone else's videos.
