Base 10 Blocks
Base 10 blocks are a two dimensional manipulative that comes in three different sizes. The first and smallest size are called units. The second size are called rods and the third and largest size are called flats.
Activitiy #1 We used activity 19.12 from page 326 called "Fixed Perimeter" as a reference for this activity. We have created two different living room perimeters each one being a different size from the other. Using the base 10 blocks decide which room has the largets perimeter. Mark down what base 10 blocks you used and how many of each. |

Activity #2
We used activity 19.4 from page 321 called "Guess and Measure" as a reference for this activity. We have three different objects in which we are trying to find the different dimensions, volumes and areas for each. First make a prediction on which item will have the largest area, then use your base 10 blocks to decide the measurements for each item, use the chart to help keep track.
I think __________________ will have the largest dimensions and area.
