| The next morning I woke up and tried to cover my red swollen eyes with makeup. It definetly didn't work. We got into dance rehersals as soon as I walked throught the door I was confronted. "Sara, what's wrong?" Marie asked me. "Um," I looked at Dhani and lied, "My Aunt Mildred died last night." Dhani walked up to me and tried to give me a hug, but I pulled away from him. He looked hurt, and backed away. Dance rehersals began and I was immediately reprimanded by the choreographer. "Sara, where is your attitude? You look dead out there, come on!" Jeena yelled over the music. I continued dancing, trying to look my happiest but the chemistry wasn't there. "Fine, I think you all need a day off," Jeena announced,"be here tomorrow at 9." I grabbed my bag and walked out the door towards my car and took off. I got back home and got into the shower. I stood in the hot shower for alomst an hour, trying to wash away everything. I stepped out and put on my bathrobe and walked into my bedroom. The phone rang. "Hello?" I answered. "Sara, are you okay?" Marie asked. "Yeah, I feel much better!" I said with fake enthusiasm. "Ok, good. Well, we are all hanging out at the house and we were worried. Are you coming home?" She asked me. "I don't know, I might come later. Ok?" "Ok, talk to you later. Bye." Marie said. I set the phone down and began getting dressed and ready. I packed up my car and decided to go see everyone. As I pulled into the driveway next to Amit's midnight blue corvette I thought of turning back. I didn't know if I could face Dhani without crying. I finally made a decision to go inside. As I walked past all of the cars to go into the house I realized how stupid my jeep looked next to Amit's beautiful new car. "Momma's boy!" I said to myself. I walked throught the door and everyone was sitting around the tv. As I shut the door and everyone looked up. "Hi," I waved to them still looking down. "Hey are you okay?" Amit asked while patting the seat next to him. I walked over and sat next to him and gave him a hug. After some chit-chat, everyone decided it was time to get to bed. I was laying in bed watching tv when Dhani burst in the room and sat on the edge of my bed. "What is wrong? I know it isn't your aunt. Your brother said you didn't even have an Aunt Mildred!" Dhani asked. "You called my brother to check if I was lying!?" I yelled. "Yeah, I did. You weren't telling me something! I had to find out from someone. What's wrong with you!" Dhani yelled back at me. "You are!" I shouted as I walked through and slammed my door. I was crying now and didn't want to talk to him. I had been trying to stop myself from crying all evening. I am one of those stubborn people who try not to let things bother me. I went out in the backyard by the pool, sat in a beach chair, and cried. Dhani came and sat down next to me. "I'm sorry, but I really need to know what's wrong. I need to know what I did. Things cannot end like this." He said to me. By this time Marie and Amit were peeking through the blinds into the backyard to see what was going on. "You know what's going on, you know!" I cried. "No, I don't. I need you to tell me." "You've been breaking so many of our dates, and then on movie night, you weren't even home!" I cried out, "Dinah had to tell me you were out with another girl. Do you know how that made me feel!" "Another girl, what? I took Marie to get some ice cream!" He tried to explain. After hearing that I got up and began walking away when he grabbed my shoulder. I pulled away from him and walked through the gate and sat on the porch bench. |
