| Madison walked through the door and threw her backpack on the ground. "Oooooh la la!" Jake yelled from the couch. Hayden looked up laughing and winked at Madison. "So you finally let Jared Kimperton bring you home huh?" Wayde asked. "Yes, I did." She said trying to leave the room. "Well..." Hayden asked. "What?" She said tapping her foot impatiently. "Do you like him?" He finished. Madison plopped down on the couch between Hayden and Jake. "No." She answered bluntly. "Oh...why not?" "Well, he's nice and everything ya know and pretty cute, but...he's one of those guys who dumps girls after he gets what he wants." She shrugged. "That's our girl! Nothin gets past you, and if it does it doesn't get past us." Wayde said acting like he was punching Jared. Madison rolled her eyes. They were interrupted when the phone rang. Hayden reached over to the table. "Hullo? Yeah hold on." Hayden handed the phone over to his younger sister. "Hello? Oh hi Jared. Yeah...no thanks. No it's not that I just, you know that's not my thing. Yeah ok cya." She said discarding the phone on the couch next to her. "He wanted me to go with him to that party tomorrow night. All they do at those things is get drunk and fall all over each other." Madison said getting up off the couch and walking to her bedroom. ***September 15, 2000: Dear Diary, I hate school. It sucks. And I am done doing Wayde's homework beacause not only do I have enough of my own homework but Mom told me this morning that both Wayde and I are grounded for weeknights for the next two weeks. But at least she was nice and gave us the weekends free. I am so happy tomorrow is Friday. Jared asked me to go to a party with him tomorrow night but he can be a total jerk at things like that especially after he has a few beers. Both my mom and dad came home early today to go out to dinner. It was their anniversary and he was taking her out. It was so cute watching them get ready. Mark got home right after they left and now all four of them are playing video games in the living room and yelling at each other just like they did when we were little. They'll never grow up! Well I better get out there and show them how it's done! *** *** *** Madison laid in bed staring up at the ceiling trying to fall asleep. She was startled when her door was flung open and a body landed on top of her. "I heard Jared asked you to that kegger tomorrow night!" He said laughing goofily. "Ugh! I know nasty huh? I kinda feel bad about saying no since I will probably just sit home and do nothing tomorrow but..." "Well you know you would get some action!" Mark joked. Madison slapped his arm. "So what are your plans? Got any hotties coming over to meet me before you take them out?" She laughed. "Oh yeah, because if a hot girl was ever gonna go out with me, the first thing I would do is bring her here to meet you freaks." He said sitting up. Mark looked down at the covers and put his head in his hands. "What's wrong?" Madison asked him. "Oh nuthin, just a little stressed. This whole college thing and passing senior year doing good on the SATs. I am really..." "Scared?" She cut him off. "Yeah just a little, I need to relax. Get my mind off of it. I wish I would've paid a little more attention the last three years. The whole thing just gives me a headache." Mark answered. "You are gonna do fine! I know you will. You just need to stop stressing and relax. Get a good nights rest ok?" She said pointing towards the door. "Yeah, thanks. G'night Maddy." Mark said as he exited. "Goodnight, I love you." She answered him. "Love you too." |
