Chapter 1

***September 14, 2000:
   Dear Diary,
Wow, I haven't written in one of these things in forever.  But, I found it in my drawer and figured I would give it a go.  I'm in my bedroom trying to get away from all the noise that goes on in this house.  My oldest brother, Mark, is constantly on his guitar with his amp turned up.  And then there's Jake who is always on the phone pacing up and down the hall.  You can hear his life story if you stand next to my door.  Hayden however, he doesn't say much.  But then Wayde makes up for them all.  There's nothing he does noisily in particular, but anything he does makes a lot of sound.  I can't wait to get out of this house and hang out with my friends..  Hopefully this weekend will come soon.

Madison slapped the covers of her diary together when her bedroom door flopped open.
"Hello, can you at least knock?"  She said giving a dirty look.
"Well I could, but I won't."  Wayde said as he walked over to her desk and grabbed a paper off of it.
"How much do I owe you?"  He said scanning the sheet.
"Well that is definetly and 'A' so...about 10 bucks."  Madison said holding her hand out to him.
"I told you, A's are too obvious.  I hardly ever do my work, so I obviously wouldn't give it an 'A' effort.  Give me like a 'C' next time.  Here's a 5 for not following directions."  He reached into his pocket and threw a bill at her.  He walked out and slammed the door behind him.  Madison pounced after him and tackled him in the middle of the hall.
"That took me 3 hours!"  She said as she held him against the floor.
"Fine you win.  I can't believe my baby sister is beating me up for money."  He said throwing more money onto the floor next to her as he got up and walked around the corner.
"Your welcome."  She yelled out after him.  Madison got up off the floor and walked across the hall.  She entered Mark's room to find him jumping up and down and rolling around the ground playing his guitar.  She walked over and unplugged his amplifier.  Mark spun around to face her, turning red.
"Hey, what's up?"  Mark asked looking a little embarassed.
"Mark, what are you doing?"  Madison asked sweetly trying not to giggle at his weak attempts at trying to look like a rock star.  Mark looked down at the guitar he held in his hands and then at the amp.
"I am bored!"  She whined as she made her way over and threw her body onto his bed.  Mark disappeared into his closet and pulled out a rectangular box.  Their eyes both lit up.
"MONOPOLY!"  They yelled in unison.  They set up the game and began to play discussing the events of their day.
"Anything happen to you today?"  Mark asked as he rolled the dice across the board.
"I beat up Wayde!"  She answered.
"Good for you."  Mark looked back down at the board, "You know I was thinking we are getting a little old for this." They both looked at each other.
"Naw."  Madison answered.  After the game Madison walked back across the hall. Right before she reached her door...
     "Maddy."  Mark yelled.
"Huh?"  She called back to him.
"Goodnight!"  He answered back.  She smiled and got into her own bed.  The door creaked open slightly revealing a small beam of light from the hallway.
     "Goodnight, I love you."
"Love you too Mom."  Madison whispered.
