Transporting & Packing
This is right side of the Lomax Lumber modules being packed for transport or storage. The clear Plexiglas protection for the front is on the left. The bottom end board with wheels has been fastened to the end of the module with two 1/4" bolts and wing nuts. These bolts and the ones that hold the legs on all have socket heads that accept Robertson type screwdrivers. Using a power screwdriver makes assembly and disassembly much easier. Note the carrying hole in the center. There is one at the opposite end as well.
All packed and ready to go. The right module has been placed on top of the bottom end board and bolted on. The other end board has been bolted to the top of the pair. Note the legs are nested in the bottoms of this pair of modules, making it easier to move everything at once. (This makes them heavier too!) They are held in place with wire clips cut from clothes hangers. Note there is a metal suitcase type handle on the top as well as the cut out hand holds. All of the models are safely protected inside this plywood enclosure, and it can be wheeled around easily.
Details on one end. AC outlet is for module power pack. Plugged in transformer powers the 1.5V bulbs in the machine shop. Power cord plug will join to adjacent module when set up. It is held in place with a cup hook. To place end boards on in their proper positions, shallow saw cuts were made on each end board and module. This one has three cuts just below the black plug. Each end board and module end have a different number of cuts, from 1 to 4.
Looking down on the nested modules. There is a gap between them that allows the Plexiglas protection on the front to be left on the modules at all times. It does not touch the other module backdrop. The plywood end pieces were sized to allow this gap.
