In accordance wit the "Harry Benjamin Standars of Care" you must live and experience living full time in the desired gender in order to make certain that this is what you want, and are emotionaly strong enough to handle the change.Keep in mind that you will experience a lot of personal losses. You could possibly loose your job, your family, and your friends. |

Q
Dear Leslie; I recently applied for a job where I was told that they "just dont think I will fit in". Isn't it against the law for them to discreminate against a person for living an "alternate lifestyle?" Sincerly; Discouraged in Dayton
A
Dear Discouraged; First off you did not mention what alternat lifestyle you are refering to. As of the time of this response, I only know that in Ohio, an employer may not discreminate against a persons sexual preference, however they can discriminate against a persons gender identity. In other words, you can not be discriminated against if you are gay, but you have nho protection if you are transgender. The law varies from state to state. Check with your local agency on specific laws for your state. Sincerly: Ms. Leslie
Q
Dear Leslie; What would possibly drive a person to change what sex they are? Just Wondering
A
Dear Wondering; Simply put and speaking for my-self, I was born with "gender-dysphoria syndrome." What the means is that I was born with the mind of a female and the body of a male. Since you can not change the mind, the only way to bring the two into alignment is to change the body to more closely match the mind.
