FULL METAL KNIGHTS

Once upon a time, the lands of Amestria were one united empire, ruled by a series of wise and benevolent Emperors from the Palace of the Gods in the city of Amestris. But those golden days faded into darkness several centuries ago. Now a series of squabbling petty states rule over a fragmented land, and the fluid and indefensible borders between them are frequently redrawn in blood.

There are those who dream of ending this perpetual cycle of warfare and darkness, and reunifying the great Amestrian Empire once more. Others pay lip service to that dream as an excuse to expand their personal wealth and power.

Behind this struggle for worldly power, however, there is a darker mystery. Whispered rumors and hoary legends tell of a miraculous substance, a material that amplifies the powers of Alchemists and allows them to ignore the law of equivalent exchange. This substance is the Philosopher's Stone, and those who seek it are said to universally fail...or go mad in the attempt. If it could be found, the stone would grant it's finder power beyond the dreams of mortal men...the power to reshape matter into any form, the power to create life, the power to resurrect the dead, the power to live forever.

In the hands of a genuinely good person, such power could turn this world into a paradise. In the hands of an evil mastermind, it could turn this world into a living hell.

The cost of creating a stone is such that no good person would ever seek it. But many will try....
