| A simple mystery that no one could solve. Three years ago when I was fifteen, my parents were killed while I was at school. No one knew why. My little brother wouldve been killed too. Luckily for him, I had my sell phone in my locker. I opened my locker and my sell phone was ringing. I quickly answered it. I answered, "Hello?" I heard someone crying on the other end. I asked, "Who is this?" The boy on the other end responded, "No. Leighann, its me, Jon." I shot, "Jon, I told you not to call me at school." Jon gulped then sobbed, "Theres a killer in the house and he killed our parents and now hes trying to kill me." I froze. My friend, Sarah, asked, "Leighann, are you okay?" I asked Jon, "Did you call 9-11?" Jon piped, "Mom and Dad told me not to unless I really had to." I shot, "Well now you really have to Jon. Ill be home in a couple minutes. Okay?" Jon piped, "Okay, bye," and he hung up. I grabbed my backpack, shut and locked my locker, and ran out the door trying to put my sell phone in my backpack. A police car drove down the street, sirens going off. I stopped and put my sell phone in my backpack. Then I kept running. An ambulance drove by sirens going off. I kept running. When I got home, Jon was outside watching everything going on. Yellow warning strips were taped up around the house. Jon saw me, ran over to me and hugged me. I figured hed be scared because he was only four. We hugged. A week passed and we packed all our things and went to the orphanage in Domino City. The only thing that reminded me of my parents was the gold sphere that hung around my neck. My parents got it for me when they went to Egypt. Thats where Ive been, for a long time, but that will end today. Since Im eighteen, I can take my brother and move into an apartment. I decided to that a long time ago. We left without saying a word to anyone. I was the oldest because by the time youre eighteen, you are adopted. Many people wanted to adopt me but I would leave without Jon. Jon is the last person in my life that I can trust. Hes now seven. Hes over our parents dying, but Im not. Not one bit, but I dont minion that to him. When we got to the apartment, we unpacked our things. I got my school uniform, because we had to go to school the next day. Jons school was just down the street from the apartment building, so he could walk like I was. The next day, I left for school. My uniform for school was a pink skirt, and a blue-collar shirt. I walked down the street and saw a game shop. I thought, Ill stop by there after school. I continued walking down the street. I heard someone behind me yell, "Hey! Girl! Wait up!" I turned around and saw two boys warring the same outfit. Like a school outfit or something. They caught up to me. One was blonde and the other had brown hair that was pointed in the front. I smiled and asked, "Hi. Who are you two?" The one with blonde hair responded, "Well, my name is Joey Wheeler, and this is" The one with brown hair remarked, "I can tell her my name without your help Joey." Joey piped, "Well sorry." The one with brown hair noted, "My name is Tristan Taylor." I responded, "Well my name is Leighann Morlan." We all walked to school together. Joey and Tristan recalled that they had two more friends, their names were Tea Gardner, and Yugi Motou. When we got to the school, a small boy with spiky yellow, black, and purple hair came up to us and piped, "Hey guys. Whos your friend?" Joey responded, "This is Leighann. Shes really nice." I smiled and recalled, "Hello, Yugi." He asked, "How did you know my name?" I giggled and responded, "Joey and Tristan told me." Yugi rolled his eyes. I giggled again. A girl with brown hair walked up to us and asked, "Hey guys. Whos your friend?" Tristan said, "This is Leighann, Leighann, this is Tea." I smiled and responded, "Its nice to meet you." Tea remarked, "Same here." After school, I never felt the same again. |
