  • IDC SYSTEM, SERIES 1:
The STONEHENGE incorporates Exopods, a concept that has worked well on other vessel classes and now incorporated in to the latest Legend class vessels. These Exopods have limited intelligence, there is however one ExoComp aboard to oversee that the Exopods are treated fairly. They, in combination with the widely accepted biohull and computer system, essentially become an aggregate organism, allowing for incredible repair time and efficiency.

MARK 2 BEHAVIORAL INTERFACE: Another technology incorporated in to many new vessels is the Behavioural Interface. Originally introduced in to the Century class vessels the Behavioural Interface incorporated in to starships have undergone a few changes to allow them to integrate better with current computer systems, they now also have the option for a more customisable appearance, an improvement when one considers that the original Mark 1 interfaces all looked alike. The behavioural interface is the most complex computer system designed to date, including a limited personality and a constant, dynamic, user-specific interface format. They are designed to grow as it has experiences through the journeys of the ship.

The USS STONEHENGE is at first appearances a Legend class vessel. One of the second run vessels there are a number of standard improvements over the original vessels. These include the addition of limited Ablative Armour protection, a Behavioural Interface and an exopod colony. The STONEHENGE however is further modified. On the top most deck of the vessel an additional armoured bunker has been added. Like all Legend explorers the STONEHENGE carries civilians, but considering the unique nature of the vessel extra protection was added and in an emergency this armoured bunker, accessed from its own turbolift tube, can be ejected.

There has also been added a pulsed phaser cannon to augment the limited armaments on a Legend class. The reason for this and the added bunker is the primary difference of the STONEHENGE compared to all other Legend class vessels, she contains the only current working D-Drive allowing for the STONEHENGE to explorer alternate dimensions.

Another change in the second generation Legend class vessels of which STONEHENGE is one, is the ability for the craft to land on the surface of a planet, this is extremely power intensive for such a large vessel and is usually only done where there is a base on the surface to aid in the effort of maintaining the ships structural integrity.

Because of the secretive nature of at least a part of the STONEHENGE other classified projects have been transferred to the ship while they are being worked on, creating a small community on the vessel of research and design specialists that work alongside the normal crew.
