First Street Boulder

This is probably the first boulder you will hear about passing through Duluth. First street boulder is very convenient because it's right next to the road. No approach along with a high density of good problems (duluth standards) make it a favorite to climb at.

There are countless variations of problems on this boulder. These are a few standard lines to get you started. Be warned, the ratings here are probably really poorly done. We(the guys who put up this page) are rating them and have no idea what we are talking about.

The boulder's east face

1. Unnamed (V1)-Start from the lowest holds and climb up mini-dihedral.
2. Unnamed (V1/V2)-Start with hands in the crack and on the sloping ledge. Climb up the crack.
3. Rocket's Revenge (V4/V5)-Start right of number 2 and climb up sharp crimps to the top.
4. Unnamed (V2)-Sit start, climb up left side of the arete.
5. South East Quadrant (V1)-Standing start, follow the arete.
6. Unnnamed (V2)-Standing start on a sidepull with left, and a sloper with your right.
7. Unnamed (V0)-Standing start, just left of number1, and climb up face left of the arete.
