CHAPTER 6 Hayley
watched as all the colour drained from his face. She thought that he was going
to have a heart attack or something. The guy had literally turned white. "Brian?
Are you okay?" she asked him, making him sit on the sofa. She should have
made him sit before she told him. Now the boy was in shock! Brian
slowly nodded. "W-w-why
didn’t she tell me?" he asked not looking at her. ‘She
was afraid to."Hayley replied, "She knew how much this was going to
hurt you and she didn’t want to do it now, especially since you guys are on
tour." She paused to let it all sink in before she continued, "Even
though i said that i promised her that i wouldn’t tell you, i still would have
done it. But after the tour. Now i’m not sure she’ll be able to make it until then." Brian looked
up at her then. She could see the unshed tears in his eyes. "What
does she have?" he asked softly, the tears slowly making their way down
his cheeks. "Umm..i
can’t remember the name of it exactly. It’s kinda long. And umm.. you don’t
have to worry about getting it, it’s a hereditary disease. I think she said
something like her great, great grandmother had it and she thought that she had
a very slim chance of getting it since it skipped everyone between then. But
she was wrong." Hayley explained. "How
long does she have to live?" "A
couple months for the most." Brian
took a deep breath and buried his head in his hands. "She
should have told me! I think i deserved to know!" the words seemed to be
wrenched from him. ‘I
know! I told her to tell you!" Hayley said, "I tried to make her. But
she wouldn’t listen. She didn’t tell you because she wanted you to be
happy." "What?"
Brian asked looking at her as if she were mad. "How can I be happy without
her?! She was my life! She IS," he corrected himself "my life!" "Exactly!"
Hayley said, "That’s why she didn’t tell you. She thought that if she left
you, you would eventually find someone else and forget all about her and be
happy." Brian
now understood. He shook his head and got up. He knew that if Andrea ever left
him for good, that that was exactly what would have happened...well most
probably. "Well,
i can’t just sit back and do nothing and let my girlfriend die!" "Brian,
there’s nothing you can do to help her. There’s no cure." Hayley said. "You’re wrong Hayley!" He shouted at her, "There’s
gotta be something i can do! I’m going to see her!" |
