CHAPTER 5 Brian
walked up to the door and knocked. He heard footsteps approach the door and
then the door was opened. Hayley stood before him. He could see that she was
crying and was now trying to hold back the tears. He stepped inside and closed
the door behind him. "Hayley?
What’s wrong?" he asked, he looked around then, "Where’s
Andrea?" "She’s
gone, Brian." She replied, her voice just above a whisper. "What
do you mean ‘She’s Gone?’" Brian asked her, "Back to LA?" "Yes."
Hayley broke down then. She couldn’t help it. All her emotions were just
bottled up inside and she had to let them out. She was trying to be strong for
Andrea but now that she wasn’t here, she was free to cry. Brian
hugged her trying to comfort her. "What
is it Hayley?" he asked, "What is it that you’re not telling
me?" "What
makes you think I’m keeping something from you?" she asked him when she
calmed down a bit. "The
fact that you start crying on my shoulder every time i mention Andrea."
Brian said releasing her. "What’s wrong? Did something happen to
her?" Hayley
nodded slowly, "You could say that." "Well
what?!" Brian asked exasperated. "She
made me promise not to tell you!" Hayley stated. "Hayley,
if something has happened to her, you have got to tell me! I love her! Can’t
you see how much this is hurting me?!" Brian asked her. Hayley
took one look into his eyes and saw the same thing in hers. The pain and the
fear. "She’s
dying Brian." She whispered. Brian
thought that he was prepared for anything Hayley was about to tell him.
Anything, except that. |
