Zain is a possessor of empathic PSI, which, in simple terms, allows him to use his gifts with virtually no concentration. This ability also makes his offense noticeably more potent than it would be normally. When particularly angry, his power is apparently augmented even further, and he enters an almost bestial state. Additionally, he can perform well in up-close, armed combat.
It can be noted though that like Ness, Zain's ability is not without peer, as he is sometimes rivaled by his companions in various ways, most notably Karen and Kato in terms of strength and skill respectively. However, his addition of speed, combined with a very strong resolve, makes him an ideal leader.
Sasha was the first friend Zain met on the journey, and also the one he formed the closest bond with.
