ABOUT US

Our story is one of defying all odds. Freya and Joshua met at a Hollywood Lounge in December, 2003. Within a month they were seriously dating. One of their fist dates was a study date because Joshua was in the middle of studying for the California Bar Exam and Freya was studying for her GRE to pursue her career in Psychology. They were inseparable ever since. However, after six years of living in California, Freya was determined to move back to Seattle to reunite with her family and pursue her Master’s degree. Joshua passed the California Bar and while waiting for his license to practice law, he migrated up to Seattle with Freya, and moved into the Sandstrom family home in August of 2004. Freya started her first year at Argosy University a Professional School of Psychology and Joshua waited patiently every day for her to return home from school. After a lot of good food, rain, and Sandstrom family immersion, Joshua realized that in fact, he was destined to return back to California where he was admitted to practice law in December 2004. Although they knew it would be a rough journey they pledged their undying love for one another, and promised that one day they would be reunited. After nine months of a long distance relationship, a ton of separation anxiety and an accumulation of frequent flier miles from round trip plane rides, Freya returned back to California to live with Joshua. The happy couple both moved to a remote beach side town in Ventura County, about 40 miles North of Los Angeles so Joshua could pursue his career as an attorney. Today they are both thriving and very much in love with one another. They live across the street from a big sandy beach and play there several times a week with their Border Collie, Gunner. Freya is excelling in all areas of her professional and academic pursuits. She is in her last year of program at Argosy Orange County, which is a 5 hour roundtrip drive from their home. While going to school full time, she is interning at Juvenile Hall counseling troubled youths and also works with children with Autism and their families in their homes. Joshua has found his niche and is dedicated to his work as a Public Defender.

THE ENGAGEMENT

Freya went with Joshua down to Ensenada, Mexico under the impression that they would be celebrating his 30th birthday. Although Freya had been planning a surprise party, Joshua foiled her surprise in the interest of furthering a bigger surprise. So he told her that he did not want any parties and wanted this birthday for them to be together away from it all. Freya was so thrilled with their private Casita, that she immediately ran down to the rocky tide pools and yelled for Joshua to come down and see the beautiful scenery. With waves crashing all around them, Joshua was easily able to fake a slip which brought him down to his knees. He finally told her what he wanted most for his birthday….and she said yes!!!!
