Andrea Bianchi
(Andrew White)
1925 Rome, Italy

Besides directing around 20 or so films in his career, starting in 1972 withDiabolica Malicia aka: What The Peeper Saw, there is virtually NO informaion on this guy ANYWHERE. Nothing on the web, nothing in any reference books.

Well, Signore Bianchi is most known for the zombie flick Le Notti Del Terrore released here in the states as Burial Ground. Not the best film ever made, but it delevers the good and not much else. No boring character development, just two minutes of swanky lounge music during the opening credits, five minutes of Italian tities, and the rest of the running time dedicated completely to zombie carnage. Highlights include: gut munching, broken window pane v.s. eyeball, a woman pegged to the wall by a well-aimed throwing knife to the hand, then decapitated. Then of course, there's the infamous, show-stopping zombie tit bite. Yow!

The special fx by "Gino" De Rossi (purist say it's not Gianetto De Rossi who did the effects for zombi 2, but i think it is, Gino is short for Gianetto-do the math.) are pretty damn good for the most part, but the zombie masks supplied by Rossario Prestiponio are down right awful! Has anyone ever seen that really funny episode of Monty Python where the guy is showing clips from his films, and all the actors have really big fake teeth? well that's what the majority of these zombies look like. Some look as if someone put a pillow case over their head and spray painted it zombie color.

The acting is bad to the point of being surreal. A woman's son (played by midget Peter Bark, who looks around 35) keeps whining about missing his mother's breasts. He kisses her passionatly and sticks his hand up her dress, but when he tries to suck on her boobie, she smacks him one. He runs away screaming "What wrong? I'm your son!"

Some people complain about the lighting in this move, as some scenes are so dark you can't tell what the holy hell's going on. However, the blame should lie withit's american distributors, who slightly trimmed some of the gore scenes and chemically darkend the film to "make it less horrifying." Smart move.

Wacky, cheesy, poorly directed, but I rarely have so much fun watching a movie. A perfect example of gore-nography."

Now this ain't the only Bianchi film worth your interest. In 1975, Bianchi directed the superb Nude Per L'Assassino or sometimes called Strip Nude For Your Killer. Made slightly after Argento's Profondo Rosso, right smack dab in the middle of the giallo craze in Italy, this is the only Italian thriller i've seen from that era that didn't just ripoff Argento completely. In fact, Nude is a fairly original movie, maybe borrowing slightly from Mario Bava's Sei Donne Per L'Assassino-Blood And Black Lace. In The film, after a botched abortion, the employees at the Albatross photo studio, where the girl worked, are one by one picked off by a black-leather clad, motorcycle helmet wearing assasin. A short haired Edwige Fenech (lookin' damn good), along with her dickhead boyfriend try to unmask the killer before it's too late. Some effectivly suspenseful moments, graphic gore, and tons of nakedness keep the film moving along at a jaunty pace. I was very surprised that the direction is very stylish as well. A few fnny parts too, like the fat guy that can only get it up with a blow-up doll, and Edwidge talking about she doesn't have to worry about getting pregnant, 'cause she's on the pill. Her boyfriend tells her they shouldn't risk it, and GETS HER UP THE BUTT! Seriously, that was so funny I nearly wet myself!

Bianchi also directed Quelli Che Contano aka; Cry Of A Prostitute, a mafia picture with Henry Silva, and Malabimba-The Malicious Whore, an X-rated possession flick about a young girl who gets possessed by the devil and fellates her father to death!

Lucio Fulci Prodced two films for Bianchi in 1989. Massacre and Murder secret. Both films where later cannibalised and clips where used in Fulci's terrible "film" Nightmare Concert

No idea what ol' Andrea is up to now, pobably porn or something.
