Heres the very first concept drawing of F.R.E.N.D. feline mecha. It was an idea Julio (J.C.Nar) started out with, while in high school. He always wanted to create a comic story that involved both science fiction and fantasy.

It took months, almost a year for him to come up with not only a design, but a whole story itself.

One night, Julio had a dream. A dream of a little robotic feline. There wasn't much detail to this dream, but it did send a clean and clear message to the whole production. And that message was
"friendship".
Something many take for granted these days. Julio wanted to create a world where the meaning of true friendship and love, were not desroyed easily by the claws of evil. And this is where it all started.
After a year now, Julio decided to alter F.R.E.N.D's appearance by making him look more like a teddy bear type to give it a more adorable look to it. A more rounded and short feature was in mind.

This design though, proved to be very difficult to work with since it didn't look like it was agile enough to dodge missles and what not.
And in this story, he most definitely needs to be agile!

The "S1" on each of his shoulders used to represent "Samson 1". Samson was later changed to Janson, which became "J1" on the latest F.R.E.N.D design. No real reason why that happened. It just did.

Julio also drew a mechanical butterfly which was supposed to be F.R.E.N.D's sidekick, but was put back for later uses.
And here we have the next concept which Julio had modified over the previous one. As we can see, F.R.E.N.D finally gets longer limbs and a slightly more rounded body.

Julio at the time, was happy with this design and used it when showing the big guys at
JUMBO COMICS (a manga comic producing company by Divum inc.) to pitch them the idea of working the character in their
bi-monthly/weekly book as a comic of its own dubbed
F.R.E.N.D FELINE MECHA.

Gladly, the guys at Jumbo accepted it to be part of their magazine installations.
Finally, the most recent and last F.R.E.N.D design.
It was given a sleek, sophisticated look with a dash of attitude.

The story remains the same, but with a better looking F.R.E.N.D that proved to work for many situations in the comic book.

He is now ready for action!

It sure was alot of hard work, considering the fact that Julio had to write, draw and color each issue of F.R.E.N.D within a crazy deadline of
two weeks. Thats right, t-w-o---crazy---w-e-e-k-s! God!

After about a year of comic producing Jumbo decided to pull the plug!!! Oh no!!! It seemed that no one paid any real attention to comic books or pretty much anything relating to it. It was those darn scooters!!! grrrr!

Or maybe it was only because the whole group (including me) were inexperienced.

Ah well.. just know that F.R.E.N.D went down... but hes not out! Not by a long shot, no.
Nar will try his best to rerelease F.R.E.N.D to this world for a second chance at life.... and a first chance at its exposure to you.

It is still in the drawing board but Julio hopes to be able to publish it soon under the world famous
IMAGE. Who knows. cross your fingers. Till then, see you around mechateer!
