| G'day folks, as some of you are aware, Lisa and I played Ultimate in Canada. Well we've lucked out and it is also played here in Australia. Lisa and here current flatmate Phil started an Ultimate club at Bond University. After more than three years, Lisa just recently stepped down from the presidency. Now she can just relax and forget about all the dreaded paperwork running a university club can generate. Since the club is from Bond, the team usually enters tournaments as "Ultimate Bondage". They even have a nifty logo and discs (organized by Lisa while she was in Canada). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Here are some photos from my first tournament, The Halibut, held in Brisbane in August 2003. We decided to try a different approach for out team name, some more Bond....James Bond. So we went as "Licensed to Swill". We didn't fare so well but we had a blast. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We each chose our own character name from the Bond flicks, I went as Francisco Scaramanga and Lisa went as Ms. Moneypenny. We got rave reviews on team shirts. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The next tournament we participated in was the Melbourne Hat held the first weekend of December 2003. In this tournament, everybody's name goes into a hat and they draw teams. I ended up on a great team which we named "Drunken Durongos" (I think I got the spelling right) meaning bunch of drunken idiots. We certainly looked the part with our play. We had a blast. There were a few canadians on the team as well. I'm the one in the hat for you those of your with eyesight problems! ;) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The latest tournament that Lisa and I participated in was the Disc Del Mar beach tournament at Coolangatta beach on March 20th, 2004. We played on a team of consisting of mostly Bond students (check out the suave uniforms on the right!) and for the ocasion we took the beach name of Shark Biscuits (what body boarders are referred to!!!) It was a great day but tiring. It was very windy which made throwing the disc very interesting. We played seven forty minute games and we were exhausted at the end. We finished in seventh out of eleven teams. No sunburn for me as this time I used plenty of sunscreen!! Looks like my next tournament will be the Australian Men's National Championships at the end of April. That should be exhausting if not interesting. I hope I don't break anything :O |
