History Lesson

by Karen A. Freeman

I sit at my computer terminal. I will begin to study history. There are tales of war and glory, which no one says are true. There is a limit to how far back the computer can remember.

We are having a test tomorrow on mythology. I must learn about the great gods: Power, Profit, and Lust. They are said to have ruled all eras. It's funny to think about: all of these little creatures running about, playing with their simple toys, trying to please their gods. It is hard to understand how anyone could believe in such ridiculous gods.

I should remember though, this was a very long time ago. Our scientists say that these creatures were little more than animals. It is hard to believe we evolved from such a horrific state. The ugly bipeds were mere speaking creatures that dwelt on only one planet. I don't believe in such a time. Mythology is stupid.

I would rather spent my time on something more productive . . . like mind control. My slaves are beginning to rebel.
