Earning (Some) Money over the Internet
'Twas a time of great upheaval and stress in the life of Lady Raven. She took hold of a splendid idea that possessed her and would not let go of her soul. It drove her forward despite the consequences and at the expense of her greater judgement. Lady Raven would support her wee ones by gaining a living from beside her own hearth. No more would she venture from the safe confines of her hallowed halls and leave the royal children alone. But to what should she turn her hand? She must search for the perfect situation, which would leave her free for many hours and give her much income. Eagerly she began her quest, applying here and there and waiting expectantly for her e-mail to overflow with the offers she so desired.
Indeed, sure as sunrise Lady Raven's email box filled to overflowing and so she was overjoyed as the contents were eagerly dissected. Instead of the treasures she sought, the boxes were stuffed with offers which were "guaranteed" to make one rich. There was the dollar shop where a person could get rich "giving away" products, the Internet Empire course where one could sell e-books teaching others to get rich, and the book which assured Lady Raven she could receive gold through the 'net. All of these for a few pieces of gold which in truth she could ill afford. Lady Raven dived into each new venture with the dedication of a knight in battle, eventually deciding these were somewhat of a disappointment as her storehouse had not increased.
Ever hopeful, Lady Raven learned one could be well off earning 9-40$ per hour answering surveys - now there was the perfect position for such a one as Lady Raven! 'Tis true she had always said that her opinion was something all were entitled to, why not be paid for it? But alas, she sat in silence waiting as a mere pittance of these surveys trickled into her e-mail box. Sighing, Lady Raven concluded that 'twas meant for her to acquire a more conventional situation and she began again to search the vast expanse of the Internet for the means of her employment lest she starve.
Eventually, a situation was uncovered and Lady Raven began to increase her personal wealth. No longer would she starve and so it was that she began to review in her mind the experiences of the past year. Had she been scammed repeatedly? Were all of her gold pieces thrown as if into the wind with no value or reward retained at all?
True as anything told, she had been deceived repeatedly and put false hope upon beguiling ad copy. But few of the goods she had purchased were useless in the final review. Instead, Lady Raven began to understand that it was herself that failed to read through and into the ad copy for the true thing, instead choosing to believe the hopeful, false expectations she placed upon these ventures. Indeed a good many of the things she had given coin for were in the end of good value for the coin, just not what it was she believed she was purchasing.
Art Thou Looking? Art thou seeking to gain much treasure off the Internet while waiting for the trade that would keep thy family well fed? Indeed, there are things the industrious person could do online to improve the thickness of their purse. All will be well with thee as long as it is understood that this will not make one substantially wealthy, agreed? If that is what is understood, gentle reader, then please proceed and gain the knowledge for which Lady Raven gave her much needed coin.
Earn (some) Money Online
1. Read Email:
Yes there are people who will pay you to read what is normally regarded as "spam" and pay you for it. These programs range from paying partial pennies to two dollars each - or you can accumulate "points" which you can trade in for "prizes" eventually. If you see an email that says "Get Paid To Read Email, Earn 9-12$ per hour emptying your mailbox" don't go to the web-site and pay $29.95 for it. If you desire to do this, you can visit my program list...or search this on your own. All you must do is type "Pay to Read Email" into the search engine and you will have many options to chose from. You will not, I repeat NOT make a lot of money doing this. You may accumulate a few dollars a month with some of them, and points with others, which will take about a year to accumulate any decent value. I personally filter these to a separate part of my inbox. Then when I am up late with insomnia or I have to spend the afternoon making annoying errand calls I will "read" them, since I'm not doing anything profitable with my time anyway.
2. Get Paid To Surf:
These range from home pages which have drawings each day to those which pay minuscule amounts to click on things on the home page or to use their search engine. Others pay to review banner ads. The amounts one accumulates depends on the amount of time spent online and how one spends that time, and one will not get rich doing this by any means. However, it is something a person does ANYWAY and it can't hurt to investigate them. When doing this, however, make sure your personal firewall is functional and that your computer is adequately protected. Run your virus scanner and your adware remover frequently or your computer will slow considerably. I personally gave up on this option as long as I had dial up service as it became too slow to tolerate.
3. Get Paid to Take Surveys:
With these you sign up with market research corporations and then they either call you or send emails with surveys or invitations to an online chatrooms where you can participate in either evaluations of existing products or sampling prototypes before they go on the market. If you sign up for enough companies and you answer all of the e-mails you could get a tank or two of gas per month out of this. And with some companies you will get to keep the product if you were given a sample. There are also some that do not pay for the survey, instead giving you a "Chance" at a drawing for a grand prize each week or month. I have been paid for surveys that pay for them, but I have never won a prize.
4. Mystery Shopping:
You could buy a list of these companies for $29.95 or answer ads from some of the "work at home jobs" sites to get on a list for this. Or you could do it the "free" way and surf online. The best way to do this in my illustrious opinion is to join a discussion list or two and get the e-mails each time there are openings. They post nation wide so you will have a lot of things to delete if you subscribe to more than one list. This is how most of them work: You read an e-mail asking you (or someone in general) to shop for a given item. You decide to answer the email and if there are any forms to fill out you do that as well. The company accepts you as a mystery shopper and gives you the terms of the shop. (You may have to shop within certain hours or purchase certain things.) Then you go shopping. Make sure to keep the receipt if you don't have to return the item, or if it is a restaurant shop. Answer the questions and submit your receipt for reimbursal and/or payment. Shops range from eating out to pretending you want to buy an apartment. I've seen some offers to shop luxury hotels, take trips to foreign countries or on cruise liners. These are rare and hard to get (you have to be with a company and have a good reputation in order to get these) but they are there. Most likely it would be years before this would be a full time career, and then only if you live in a large metropolitan area. However, it will likely give the family a few days out to eat each month and some pocket money.
5. Re-selling E-Books:
I have not had much luck with this but some have. You find e-books that you like, or which would go with the content of your web-site and promote them there. You could be an affiliate, which will get you a commission, or you could have complete resell rights, which means you get paid the whole value of the book. Affiliates usually do not have to have a membership in a site to do this, complete re-sellers usually do have to be a paid member of the author/publisher's web-site.
6. Online Auction/Sales Sites:
You can make a career out of this if you are good at sales but most people just make some pocket money cleaning out their closets or buying things at yard sales and selling it online. EBay requires a fee to list and a commission on each sale, other auction sites have different rules. If you come by a large amount of used books in decent condition, Half.com and Amazon.com allow you to sell used books for a reasonable price. I have had a good bit of luck selling on Half.com.
7. Online Biz Ops:
Online business opportunities are mostly Multi-Level Marketing arrangements. These are as profitable as the market and the marketing let them be. Make sure you read the contract to understand the whole scheme. Run a check on the company to make sure they are a real company, and make sure they are selling something people need or want. You usually, but not always, have to buy into the opportunity and there is no guarantee that you will make a red cent with it. But many people get enough to have pocket money each month. The companies usually tell you about the off chance you could get a real "go-getter" to sign up under you and do very little yourself and live off your down-line. But don't count on it. There are biz ops which supposedly are MLM schemes but they are really pyramid schemes. Beware. If you do not see a reference to a real product stay far far away from this.
8. Affiliations:
If you have a web-site or newsletter or interest in decorative swords and there is a company that sells them...the two of you could have a joint venture. You agree to advertise their web-site on yours and the company will pay a very small commission if someone orders one after coming from your web-site. You can advertise in your e-mail signature, on your web page, or in e-mail newsletters/discussion lists that you own. You can create a web page, which will lead to theirs, if you wish. Most affiliates earn pocket change. Some become so called internet gurus, who are regarded as the experts on this sort of thing. They spend a lot of time marketing and making sure their website gets seen so that people will buy from their affiliate. I have no idea if many of them make money at it or not. I found that approach to be frustrating, I'd rather take a more laid back view of the practice. Just remember, if it costs you nothing and you honestly like what you are affiliated with, place some banners or links on your site and see what happens. If it's free what have you got to lose? Just don't expect to become rich off this. It won't happen.
Please remember that unless you have extraordinary luck none of these will make a living for you, much less make you rich. However the extra income gained from them could take the edge off a tight financial situation and give your family "soda and chips" money. If you want to do these things, but prefer not to do the research, you can of course pay someone else for the information. You could pay 20-40$ for each idea online somewhere else (go ahead check the membership sites), or you could pay $4.95 shipping and handling for all of them from me. However, the cheapest way to aquire the information is the simple internet search. Doing the research and getting started can be time consuming. However, after you have the accounts set up and get into a rhythm, you will spend very little time on any of them.
