I am a retired school administrator and very interested in the defense and liberation of the Philippines. I have taken 14 trips to the PI and spent most of my time on Corregidor Island, where I do volunteer work with the museum and small school on the island.

Your book was so well written. I would recommend it to anyone searching for information as to what happened to a relative or friend who was connected with the Death March, the Hell Ships or who may have been a prisoner of War of the Japanese in the Phili
ines. It is very enlighting. My cousin was in the Army and was unfortunately aboard one of the hell ships and either perished aboard the ship or in the water. Sad as it was the public should be made aware of the happenings during the War!!

This story is truly an inspiration to citizens of any country on earth. At the core of this story is the testimony of a U.S. Veteran who endured agony of biblical proportions for over three years. At every page of the story, he describes his faith in no
luck, but his country and God Above.
For 55 years, this country has ridden on Calvin Graef's Waves of Freedom. His story is but one tiny piece of the puzzle during this era of history, however he captures the feelings and beliefs of every American Citizen who endured the catastophies of WWI
, whether they remained at home or were sent abroad to fight.
This book should be required reading at Middle School or High School levels, to inspire our next generation of American caretakers to realize the sacrifices made for freedom, God and this country. By instilling these values in our youth, our country will
be as prosperous as it has for the last 55 years, due solely to all citizens of that generation.

There is a particularly disturbing scene on page 61 and 62 of the book in which Calvin Graef details punishment delivered to him for trying to take a canteen of coconut oil.
The book points out the instrumental part played by our New Mexico servicemen in the war and the sacrifices they made for us. Every American should know about Bataan, and this book presents 1st hand information of what Mr. Graef and our servicemen suffe
ed as prisoner's of war.

As a veteran of three years service in the South
Pacific in WW2, I highly recommend the book,"Ride
the Waves to Freedom.' Told with much care and concern for the suffering of those veterans who endured so much at the hands of the Japanese. It's
a book you wont want to lay down till it's finished. Don Miller
