Hello my name is Wesley A Henry, I am an Airman in the United States Airforce stationed at Pope AFB North Carolina. I'm 23 years old pretty young by most standards but with the insight to know that taking away the right to own rifles, and handguns is not going to solve any problems. Lets say hypothetically that a man wanted to kill another man (since this is the whole reason the government is pressing gun laws to supposedly stop violent crimes) if this man couldn't find a gun do you not think that this man could as easily do it with a knife by slitting his throat? Or perhaps a baseball bat across the mans head or brick or anything. Well your argument to this is probably that it wouldn't be as easy but common driving a 5 speed is harder than driving a automatic, but if you wanted to get to the store you would drive what you have. This applies to violent crimes, the person will use what ever they can find to do the job t! hey want. Also I am tired of seeing all these new laws for gun locks and such, because children are getting into them and hurting themselves. Well my comment for that is that ever since I was a child my father has had firearms and he has told me what they are, what they can do, and taught me to respect them. And I have yet to treat a firearm as anything other than a device used for sport or hunting game. So my point there is, do not blame guns and accidents on poor parenting. The fact of the matter is, that if that parent was doing what they should of that child would of never touched the gun with out parent permission, because it would of been under lock and key in a gun cabinet. Though my father never had to lock his guns up with us due to the fact we had common sense enough to stay out of his room and away from his firearms. And if he would of ever left them out for cleaning, which he never did, it would not have been touched no m! atter how long it sat out because he was a good enough parent to sit us down and explain guns to us. As long as parents can actually play the parenting model instead of looking for constant scapegoats for what they or their children do ( my son did that cause of the music, my child seen that on TV that's why they did it etc. etc. when are people going to start taking responsibility for their own actions??) we should have no problems with guns or anything else. A gun without bullets and a person with no malicious intent equals a piece of metal with wood. In closing I would like to say to clarify that it is the person that is to blame not the device they use for the crime, and to punish our rights as Americans to bare arms because of the few is not only unconstitutional but unfair. Remember guns don't kill people, people kill people.
