| Item cards: To play an item card you must have at least one lesson in play which matches the symbol in the corner of the card (in the case of the Comet Two Sixty on the right this is in the shape of a golden snitch, for Quidditch, with a number 3 inside) and need at least as many lessons in play as the number inside the symbol. Item cards stay in play and each has its own effect. You may have up to 4 of any particular item card in your deck. The item on the right has a box with "Provides:" and a snitch symbol. This means that this particular item, when in play, counts as a Quidditch lesson. Match cards and Location Cards: The requirements to play Locations and Matches are the same as items. (Thus, the Cauldron Shop on the right may be played only if you have at least 3 lessons in play and at least 1 of those is Potions.) There can be only 1 location in play at a time. There can only be 1 match in play at a time. You may have up to 4 of any particular Location or Match card in your deck. Unique cards: Some cards are 'Unique' which means if that card is already in play, no one may play that same card. This is also true of all Characters who have different card names for the same person. Thus if your opponent has 'Draco Malfoy' in play, you may not play the card 'Draco the Seeker.' The ONLY exception to this rule is if both players have the same starting Character. |

| Playing a game | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Once you have a deck, you are ready to play a game. This game is designed for one-on-one duals, so you will need someone to play against. At the start of the game, both players place their starting character on the playing area and draw 7 cards. Then you must decide who goes first, usually by some random event (dice, flip coin). Each turn: Every turn each player must play in the following order: 1. Draw a card 2. Your creatures (if you have any in play) do damage to your opponent 3. You have 2 actions with which you may do any of the following: a. Play a creature, spell, item, match or location card (1 action) b. Play a Character or Adventure card (2 actions) c. Draw an extra card (1 action) After you have done the 3 steps above, it is your opponent's turn. Winning the Game: To win the game you must damage your opponent more than they have damaged you. Keeping track of damage in this game is simple because damage is done to a player's deck. For each point of damage dealt to a player, that player removes the top card of their deck and places it in their discard pile. So, for example, if I have a Vicious Wolf in play at the beginning of my turn it would deal 3 damage to my opponent, so my opponent would take the top 3 cards from his or her deck and put them face up in their discard pile. (When doing this it is considered polite to move 1 card at a time so there is no doubt about how many cards were moved.) The First player to remove all cards from their opponent's deck is the winner. |
