Barely hours after she fell asleep Daphne was waken up by a familiar ringtone. She groaned and put a pillow over her head, glancing at her VCR. 6:15 AM. Only one person would call this early in the morning. Cmon Tam, pick up your bloody mobile she muttered. The Dont Speak ringtone played on. And take another less annoying tone she added. It stopped after a while, to play on a minute later. Pick up the phone! she almost yelled, throwing the cushion through her room. Typically Tamara to let him call like ten times before she picked up.
When she opened her door she saw Dees door open at the same time.
Are you going to hit her too? Daphne asked her.
Uhuh. I barely had fallen asleep Dee complained.
Serves you right, carousing around in the middle of the night Daph replied, narrowing her eyes. Dee had refused to tell her where she had gone and again, she only laughed at her younger friend.
Im gonna know anyway, you know that.
Yeah, but Im gonna put that off for as long as possible.
Hmm. Daphne shook her head and opened the door to Tamaras room. Pick up that bloody phone when he calls again she told her friend. We wanna sleep. Daphne raised her eyebrows discovering she talked to a in blanket wrapped figure.
Tamara! Dee yelled frustrated by her friends lack of interest. You might be not bothered by your ringtone, but we are.
Tam threw the blanket aside and looked at her friends. She looked sad. I dont think Ill ever have to pick up again she said in sore voice. He broke up with me.
Oh hells fire Daphne exclaimed, sat down next to her friend and wrapped an arm around her.
Dee crossed her arms. Then you think you had all she murmured before she sat down too and tried to say some nice things. After half an hour, Dee secretly nicked Tams phone, Daphne put her back in bed, tight wrapped in the blanket and they left their mates room to get some sleep.
*at a slighter more decent hour *
Jenny put her long blonde hair in a high ponytail while she walked towards the frontdoor. She checked in the mirror and added some red lipstick. Outside, she hoped to meet a certain someone You ALL know who!
She got lucky. He didnt.
Billy! Jenny happily exclaimed as she saw the Scotsman. He froze right in his tracks and his shoulders dropped. Not again.
Hiiiiiiiiiiii she said and grabbed his arm.
Oh, Jennyerm, hi he barely could look her in the eye, bringing all he had said to her in remembrance. She didnt seem to remember, though, because she acted exactly the same as yesterday, clinging at him and telling him the strangest things he didnt want to know, such as all her former boyfriends.
Oh! he suddenly exclaimed, in the middle of her story.
What? Jenny asked confused.
Nothing, please go on he replied and gave her a smile, a real one. Of course, she didnt understand Scottish! He used to forget that all the time. Now she didnt know he scolded at her. But she also didnt know he wasnt interested. He frowned.
Jenny? he asked, in a more than two-seconds silence she dropped.
Yeah? she replied with a radiant smile.
Jenny, listen to me. Ive tried to give you subtle hints but clearly you dont see. Love, I am 34, you are 19. Im way too old for you and you are too young for me..
Love doesnt know age, Billy. Its sweet of you to be concerned, but I dont mind..
Well I do. Im not interested, Jenny. Please, leave me alone, will you? With that, and a small tug at her hand, he walked away from her. Jenny was crushed.
Jen! Jenny, come back here! Whats wrong? Daphne ran after her friend as quickly as she could in her slightly too wide trousers. Jen had popped into the house for a couple of seconds to grab her cigarettes and had run off again, but Daphne had seen that she was sobbing. Jen! she cried again, and cursed Tamara and Dee for being at work, so she had to chase Jenny. Finally Jenny turned around, but instead of spilling what was bothering her she outed some really nasty, rude Dutch words. (I could name some here, such as rot op, trut, but most of you wont understand anyway, so I wont bother, and wed seem more decent if I dont translate it!)
Well sorry for being nice! Daphne yelled back offended. She stopped chasing Jenny and shrugged. Suit it yourself, then she mumbled. Why do I even care?
She noted she had come quite far away from the house. For a short moment, she looked after the short blonde figure disappearing in the distance, then she turned around and put a hand to her forehead. In the rush she had forgotten her sunglasses, which was stupid as she suffered from a severe sunallergy, in fact being allergic to ultraviolet radiation. She was beginning to feel it now. Halfway on her way back, she tripped over her baggy trousers, being unable to lift her feet properly. With her forehead against the hard stone, she half-consciously decided to stay there, but just before she closed her eyes, she felt someone scooping her in his arms and taking her inside.
Daphne? the voice came from far away, but was familiar. Daphne moaned inside. Of all people, why should he save her?
Orlando had quite doubted to help her, in fact. He had seen she had trouble staying upright, and when she had collapsed in front of his house, he had first thought to leave her there. After all he hated her. He did.
But then, it wasnt very polite and the other lads would certainly be angry with him, so he had come out anyway. Now she was on his couch. Still, too bad of such an annoying character inside a nice wrapping, he thought. He softly called her name and brushed some red curls out of her face. Suddenly she opened her eyes and, as if sting by a bee, he pulled back his hand and dropped his smile.
So he said. Had too much of a drink, hey?
Daphne, who had lightly opened her mouth to say thank you, snapped it close again and gave him a dark look, but as he had saved her she decided to be nice. Well a little.
I have a sunallergy she explained. Certainly with this weather, I really cant go outside without my sunglasses.
Orlando gave her a disbelieving glance. Thats what they all say he murmured.
Daphne was furious. She would come up with a better lie if she was lying. Its true! I was chasing Jenny. What do you want, a doctors testimonial?
Well Orli replied, and she looked at him even more darkly now. Unbelievable! The nerves of that lad! Very goodlooking guy, ok, butOh stop it. Then, she noted his hand resting on her tigh comfortably. As she moved to sit up, his hand slid up to a spot a bit on the indecent side.
Alright, Ill go now she told him. Thank you, I guess.
You should never go into acting he told her. That sounded awfully fake. And youre staying here for a bit. Youd collapse again if youd go out now.
Well that are the only sensed words you ever said, didnt you? she replied hotly.
You understand, they had a great time. But his hand was still on her tigh
Tamara pulled on the driveway with her old Volkswagen. She and Dee were the only ones with a drivers license, which was good, as Dee used to say because Jenny was too blonde to drive properly and Daphne too dangerous. Tamara knew, however, that Daphne nicked her car at times. She couldnt bothered with it particularly, as she wasnt with anything.
Hey, Tamara!
Oh god. Think you had all Tam murmured as she heard Doms happy voice. She didnt try to hide her annoyance, and Doms face fell.
Not happy to see me, I see he said. Anything wrong?
Yeah. With you, and the rest of the male world Tamara replied.
Its to Doms credit he didnt even give up then. I heard you broke up with Roy he tried again. Im sorry for you.
I guess so.
Oh cmon Tamara, he did treat you badly, dont you see?
NO! she shouted back in his surprised face. You want to make use of me now! I can see that! Get lost!
Dominic fled, but not before giving her a long sad glance. Tamara sighed and got her working stuff out of the car.
Hey, Tamara!
Tam turned around, halfly expecting to see Dom again, but it was Billy. She thought the Scotsman very sympathetic, and felt for him as she had seen him being almost assaulted by Jenny. Hi, Billy she said warmly. How are you?
Hmm The Scot shrugged. Alright, I suppose. What about you?
Hmm. Alright, I suppose she grinned.
Er. Well I really wanted to ask you, although its terribly rude, do you girls have anything to eat? Im starving and I dont think Lij ever visits shops.
Tamara laughed. Sounds awfully familiar, really, but Im the lazy one. Yeah, weve got food enough I think. Cmon.
Tam led Billy into the house, pleasantly chatting, until they reached the kitchen. There, it came awfully silent
Lij pulled his new-found girlfriend a bit closer to him. She giggled, but let him and they kissed passionately. His arms slipped around her waist as she put her hands on his chest. She felt really light and happy, at least, until someone shrieked in the doorway
Oh my GOD!!! Tamara exclaimed, but she grinned at the same time, while Billy was just shocked when he saw his young friend snogging Dee. Tamara clapped her hands excitedly.
This kitchen should be able to talk! she exclaimed. What stories it could tell.
Dee and Lij both went furiously red and let go of eachother, although he kept hold of her hand.
I am shocked Billy announced seriously. I am on verge of fainting, really.
Elijah shot him a dark glance. Thanks, mate.
Hey, no probs. But I will not tell Dom.
Oh God Dee moaned, putting a hand to her forehead, the one that wasnt occupied with Lijs. Im surrounded by lunatics, I am.
Theres another one Tamara replied, still grinning.
Daphne came into the kitchen. What are yall doing here? she asked, but wanted to walk on without getting an answer, but Tam caught her arm. We found Lij and Dee snogging! she told Daph happily. Daphne first stared at Tamara, than at her best friend holding Lijs hand and avoiding her gaze. She sighed hugely. Great she replied. Congratulations, that you may have 36 kids. Mumbling to herself, she walked out of the kitchen. Tamara stared after her.
Oh dammit she said. I wanted to make fun of you with her. Oh fuck it.
Billy shrugged at her, and they both went to the fridge to get food. Lij and Dee stared at eachother.
Within 30 seconds, the kitchen was empty.
