What is Due South?

Due South is a quirky Canadian comedy/drama about a Mountie (Royal Canadian Mounted Police). Constable Benton Fraser (Paul Gross) travels to big-city Chicago, from the Northern Territories, in the search of his father's killers. There he partners up with a Chicago detective, the cynical, tough, Italian cop, Raymond Vecchio (David Marciano) who deals with the criminals of the Chicago streets but is as soft as they come when it comes to his family and friends.

Making up the famous Due South trio is
Diefenbaker. A deaf, donut snatching, sugar loving, lip reading (self taught) wolf, Frasers loyal and trustworthy companion. For reasons that don't need to be explained at this juncture, Fraser remained in Chicago attached as Liaison Officer to the Canadian Consulte, starting the beginning of a wonderful friendship and a brilliant show. Due South was aired on channel seven, from 1993 to 1999.

For all those who have seen season three, you may have noticed some very obvious changes!

Raymond Vecchio was given an undercover assignment. It turned out that he was the dead-ringer for a mobster who was killed in a car accident. The FBI realised that this was the perfect opportunity to slip Vecchio into the mobsters place. However, to keep the secret, they needed someone back at the Chicago Police Department answering phones as Raymond Vecchio. In stepped Stanley Raymond Kowalski (
Callum Keith Rennie), Fraser's new partner, much to their immediate and comical concern. Though, by the end of season three's first episode entitled Burning Down the House, it looked like a strong friendship was going to establish and our new trio
(Diefenbaker looks different too!) will survive to live another day, or will they?
