42. Joel Edgar⁵ GORDON (Benjamin Franklin⁴, Alson³, Samuel², Alexander¹) was born in Bethel, Haywood County, North Carolina 4 November 1885. Joel died 3 November 1968 in Vein Mt., McDowell County, North Carolina, at 82 years of age. His body was interred 5 November 1968 in Vein Mt. Baptist Church, McDowell County, NC.

He married three times. He married Jessie Webb. He married Virginia Belle Sprouse. He married Mahala RICKMAN in Acton, Buncombe County, North Carolina, 16 April 1911. Mahala was born in Buncombe County, North Carolina 19 February 1896. She was the daughter of John Carter RICKMAN and Annie Carolina SINGLETON. Mahala died 15 January 1974 in Buncombe County, North Carolina, at 77 years of age. Her body was interred 1974 in Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville, North Carolina.
