Officer Down

In the middle of the lot
I didn't see those flashes of light
Only you laying on the ground
And I remember crying with all my might

With my tears in your flaccid arms
I wanted to go back in time together
But life took you away from me
To a place you could be better

Was it me that died there?
For I could swear life stopped
It could only go downhill from there
Since I had already been with you at the top

"Officer down" I heard on the radio
Something I don't want to hear again
And I will remember, believe me
Words forever engraved on my brain

Just a little bit more time
That's all I asked then, all I do now
If destinies can be changed,
Could please somebody tell me how?

Sometime in the future
I hope I will see you again
For I need to believe this
So that I can cope with this pain

Francesc Beltran

This poem is dedicated to all those officers of
the law that have given their lives so that we can have
a better one. Thanks from my heart.
