A
Poet’s Song
in the melody a poet's song makes its mark,
you'll hear and feel the pain going through her heart.
she wrote the songs of long ago,
writing the feelings she could not show.
from the tunes you can see the tears in her eyes,
a poet's song that instills a cry.
gentle, sweet thoughts of love come through,
expressed in a song the way she likes to do.
passion ignites of that which we long,
about love we hum in a song.
recollection fills our soul,
tunes on a contemporary roll.
but, before you, I am with a vision of clear,
as I sit down to pen one to hear,
heartaches that train a pain to rain,
it's where the songs find their name.
today you may not hear them as often as I,
because of the day she just seemed to die.
a trouper of lyrical words found in me,
the romantic side laid out to see.
and as you listen perhaps to sing along,
remember me, the writer of a poet's song.
