Goodbye

If I twist and turn and hurt my foot,

Please don't laugh behind my back.

Clumsiness it is not, but bad luck

Brought no doubt by your negative emanations.

If I run and hide to some place I know,

Please don't look for me when I'm gone.

I run to be away from you people.

Solitude is sweeter than your company.

When I say goodbye and walk away,

Don't give me your half-hearted "God Bless."

I don't want your insincere good thoughts,

And God won't bless me on your behalf.

Let me go where I please, in my own way.

I'll get there without you egging me on.

Keep your schemes to yourselves and let me be.

You have plenty others to heckle anyway.
